Hats and hair mods

I've seen a few screenshots out there where people are using hair mods and the hair isn't clipping through the hat. It looks quite nice, but I either get severe clipping, or the hat just removes the hair completely. How are people using custom hair mods without getting clipping on hats? Edited by Astor1977

Hats in general usually change current hair to another type that is usually tucked up. I don't consider myself an expert on the subject, but additional hairs, such as those from Lings, don't have that complimentary hair to fit along with the given selection of hats. The only way some hats still work is by either using default hairs, or the mod hair has to be small enough to not clip through. Or just be bald...

One way to keep the hair when equipping a hat, is to open the hat/helmet in Geck. There you can see, which bodyslot the hat takes up. Usually this is set to headgear/helmet. Change it to e.g. mouth object or armor addon and the hair will still be visible.

Most of the hairs will still clip through if they are too big but thats something that isn't alterable that easy as said before. It would require a new mesh which had to be made by scratch and I don't think there are many people here who are capable/willing to do it!

Try changing for example the object slot of the helmet/hat you like to wear and just try which hairstyle looks cool with it. I've done it for example in these two screenshots:

Good luck and have fun once you got it! ;)
