Windows 8

If this was true, it wouldn't be emulation, but instead just having some sort of frontend to directly implement the type of coding the game uses.

An emulator does need to emulate a whole system, but that's because often the whole system uses a different code base, and needs to have a specific hardware setting to play the game. But a 360, or most newer consoles are quite a bit different. Newer consoles use components which are quite similar to PC components, often by the same manufacturers. Newer consoles also have an OS closer to a PC OS, and games which are coded in a language similar to PC games.

The prospect of this actually opens up many rather interesting questions.

First, where does this leave the whole "PC vs Console" thing? Since this would let 360 games be played on any Windows 8 PC, it would blur the line quite a bit

Second, where does this leave the whole bit of software piracy. What has pretty much limited console piracy was that consoles themselves were a rather locked system and that using a pirated game required both dangerous modifications to hardware and the risk of having your console turned into a $300 paperweight when you connect to the network with a modified system. A PC doesn't have those same sorts of limitations.
