General manner to update mods

Hi guys

NMM is showing that there are newer versions for a few mods I'm using. I'm just wondering what the "best practice" is in updating them.

I'm inclined to think:

1. Download new version

2. Deactivate old version

3. Activate new version

4. If necessary, make sure plugin is in same load order as previously

5. Go for test run

 

Of course, there may be specific instructions from the mod author on updating his mod, so it pays to read the description.

That's pretty much it. You'll also need to remove the older version from NMM, otherwise it starts to get cluttered lol.

 

For the most part, you don't typically need to deactivate the previous one, just install the newer version on top of it, unless the mod specifically says to remove the previous on. Although I guess it is a good idea to just do it anyway, just in case.

One other thing to consider is that some mods, weapons and armor specifically might be best to remove them from your characters equipped items, before making mod changes. Otherwise stats or other odd things may get "stuck" on your character.
