Mod Idea Discussion : Institute Themed Laser Weapons

How's it going Nexus,

 

With the arrival of the creation kit, I've begun watching and trying to learn how to create mods and new models for various things. There is one area that I always felt was lacking in the game, that being Institute weaponry. Considering that the Institute after post game has now a near limitless power source, has been shown that their very being attracts attention and hostility, and that compared to the Brotherhood their weaponry was considerably lacking : It stands to reason that someone in their departments would consider expanding their arsenal.

 

My first idea was the Gatling Laser, and the model's very limited variations. We've all seen the Institute rifles, we know that they have their own method of design, I always wondered why there wasn't a Institute themed Gatling Laser. I was wondering if any mod authors currently at work had considered this problem as well, and if they have any advice or recommendations on how one could go about making an institute themed Gatling Laser.

I know we all know this, but it's plainly apparent that the basis for the new model is primarily drawn from the laser rifle model for the current game. I'm wondering how difficult it'd be to instead replace the primary body of the weapon ( for example the spinning up animation of the four laser barrels ) with perhaps a more block like shaped Institute mesh, that has charging or pulsing lights along the sides. I think it should also be noted that the idea with this mod would also change the color of the lasers from red to blue (Naturally).
