KS's Oblivion Mod Ideas [Modders please check]

Hello, I've come to this forum to post some of my oblivion mod ideas which are all dedicated to give better immersion to the game.

I've loved to mod my game and test them out for ages and have never gotten to the end of the game since I have more fun with mods than the gameplay and that's why I think it needs a couple of changes.

The mods I mention all have a very low modder knowledge need and yet give amazing results. Sadly I am not a modder and I seek the help from you guys. Especially the ones well known for your great releases so far. Go you guys!

If you plan to use any of my ideas, just mention me in your mod's page by my name Hekami or KSking or you may just mark me as "KS" and everybody calls me that.

 

Living Spells System:

 

We level up, yet our spells stay the same, making us want to buy newer spells from the store and without taking long we will have too many skills we hardly ever use.

So what I've come up with is the idea to remove all spells above the minimal power limit (ie: Heal 5 health on yourself).

And instead of buying new skills, we will upgrade the existing spells. Now, another thing with that is, we could easily also put those darn useless spell scrolls to use or replace them with modded ones and make them the "upgrade scrolls" to your spells.

Each scroll lets you upgrade your spell (as long as you have bought the spell) by a level (ie: Heal 5 becomes Heal 10;15;20;..). This way it is possible to gain certain degree of overleveling with your favorite spells and underleveling with the less favorite ones.

It would also force you to look through instances for the random scroll drop which gives some fun factor to gaining your boring crappy loot from them.

 

Living Economy:

 

In all honesty, making money in this game is a bit slow if you want to buy yourself the better weapons. You need to run through countless caves, having a chance to get lost in them, ending up carrying too much, losing precious loot or having to leave the cave just so you can go pick up a levelup from a bed. All of this may want to make some of us cheat by getting infinite bag space or simply cheating money, but we all know that draws the life out the game. So in my vision, instead of having to run all the way back and by that ending your exploration, you could just call a courier chicken for 25 coins. Yes, a chicken. It'd be small, unkillable, unmovable, all you can do is rightclick it to go to bag menu and drop your stuff in the chicken's bag and exiting it will make the chicken run off to bring it to your home-chest. Now this idea actually goes with one of the newer mods "Trade and Commerce" where the chicken could instantly go and put the stuff right on sale. And honestly it doesn't have to be a chicken, it could be an NPC, however a chicken is more fun and won't be so goddarn big and block your screen. If you're also wondering, why 25 coins per summon of the courier chicken then see for yourself. It is the price of 1-2 blades or armors and the rest is still pure profit. I think it is rather fair.

Also, this same delivery system could go with "Arena Loot" mod which could have a merchant standing by ready to automatically clean the dead body and give you the gold for it. If you choose to keep the enchanted stuff, pick it up before you talk to the merchant. Its that easy.

 

Living Economy - Rich Man's Life:

 

All of the above may not be enough to feed your massive need to collect and try new outfits of the everchanging selections. Well, then what if you were able to instead invest your money in buying a small percentage of a business. I think if its limited to the stores in IC Market District and you can only gain 1-2g ticks every couple of minutes or 50g a day for each shop or even less it should be rather fair way for you have to pay about 10,000 just to buy a portion of one of the stores. While you're spending the money you could use to buy something, it will always slowly earn you small income. That means you can be exploring caves and you will earn extra money all the time and forever. You could also choose to work for the stores by spreading the word of them. Just grab a couple of pamphlets from a chest and talk to the NPCs walking the streets to give it to them. You can earn 25g per customer, yet an NPC can only be offered a pamphlet once per day. Making it a possible new way to earn money instead of the boring old arena.

 

Living Economy - I ain't got time for this

 

I am sure you all hated trying to earn money and it just comes too slowly. The arena was nice, but the enemies came one at a time and it was simply too slow for that little bit of money. Well what if you could just go into an insane mode and just choose how many opponents you wish to go up against. 15 wild creatures, each kill earning 50g? Now that's some manly stuff! If you think you can take it on, you can choose the number of enemies you wish to fight and the difficulty (health) of the enemies. With this there is a big chance you will really die and saving becomes a much needed task. Yet the more monsters you pick per round, the greater the reward per kill with a multiplier setting being the difficulty. If you can take on the horde and survive, you can walk away with a lot of money in your pocket and all the folk know what the arena master is made of. Look at the arena, now back to me, now back to the arena. I am sitting on a pile of gold. Now look at yourself, now back to me. I am badass. If you stopped being a pussy and fought the horde, you could be like me. I'm on a dragon!

 

Living Economy - I'll handle this

 

Okay, you did the first three quests of the main quest line and got yourself a horse. Go you! But now what? You can't put it anywhere. It will stay in your way and you shall never use it. Well maybe that's because you do not have a frigin' stable x.x

Yes, how seriously dumb can this game be to give you houses with no garden and no stable. So why not make one? In front of the main gates of a town there could be a brand new stable with an NPC ready to take the horse from you as long as you keep paying her to keep watch over the horse and the stable. Why a new stable? Because you're rich and famous, screw the lower class people! Just buy yourself a stable and rent a worker to keep watch over your mounts while you're gone. She'll constantly take a bit of your money but have no fear, its not much and if you run out of money, no problem. The worker will quit but the stable will stay. God knows where your mounts will wonder off though.

 

Living Economy - Trade and Commerce Update ideas

 

You've got store, you can sell stuff. Great, that's it? What if you run out of items to sell? Well how about hiring yourself a worker who can grow and harvest crop behind the store to automatically give you some low-cost clutter to sell or you can remove some of it to study alchemy.

Or you could hire an alchemist who will turn the vegetables into potions which earn you a bit more money or you can buy them for personal use. Maybe hire a blacksmith who can also automatically make you a bit of extra money, but very slowly by repairing the armors of adventurers. Before you know it, the store is full of working people who will happily work for you while you are away.

“Bag of holding" is perfect for carrying infinite loot

I've used bag of holding, but hated it for it made the inventory slightly slower and took the fun out the game.

This is why I am looking for modders who are willing to make mods which keep the game rather balanced while making the player's life a lot easier.
