monk124us
i was modding Nordic Firearms changing the rounds on some guns, used some that caliber X introduces. after I'm done making the editing guns, changing item ids, gun names, ammo etc but leaving the mods, textures meshes, sound etc... then i save it. While im testing the gun in game the gun no longer has the stock sound and cant use the mods that the original gun uses. but it has the textures as the original gun. I get off the game and go back to the geck and noticed the esp only has fallout nv and caliber as master. So i try the process again from scratch just in case i do something wrong....I load up caliber, kaya47norticweaponds make the moddifications. save as a new esp and the same issue happens with the missing master file. im not sure what to do at this point i've done this a couple of times before but lately its acting up could someone plz help! Mrspeakers
So you say you set your modification from an esp to an esm correct? Because in doing so it can fix some of the problems your having
monk124us
Caliber X is an esm while kayanorticweaponds is an esp. i used modifications from both to create a new esp with my modifications
NorthWolf
ESP files can't be masters in the GECK. You'll have to do the work in GECK, then add it as a master file in FNVEdit. Or, better yet, get comfortable in FNVEdit and learn to do all of your changes in it.

monk124us
that's weird because i have done this before edit guns, adding different ammo, stats and then save it as under a new esp and it would always show kaya47norticweaponds esp. as master or what ever other mod i would use and it would work just fine. lately its acting up idk if its the new version of the geck. also whatever esp that i load in geck, for example wmx modern weapons that has a master wmx, the geck will remove it as master. I didnt know in the FNVedit you could change stats of guns i thought you could only do that in the geck.
Gribbleshnibit8
What might have happened is that a previous version had the master flag set. Really, all you need to be comfortable doing is setting the master flag in FNVEdit. Just open the mod, expand it in tree field, click the header info, then in the Record Flags field on the right just right click and select ESM. Close and save, and now you can use it as a master. You do NOT need to change the extension to .esm. Trust me, this makes for a world of mess you don't want. Another point is that FNVEdit can be used to edit nearly anything you can do in GECK. It's just that FNVEdit is faster, more accurate, less prone to crashing, and generally easier to work with in some respects. That being said, you can't change cells easily, and it's much faster to create a lot of new forms in GECK than in FNVEdit. But if you're just editing forms for overrides, FNVEdit is the way to go. There's a very nice guide that will tell you how to do just about everything FNVEdit can do here on the nexus. Hmm, I think I started rambling there. Point is, for simple override mods, you're better off using FNVEdit, since it'll even allow setting esp masters. Just don't forget that you did and load and try to edit it in GECK again. Maybe it was a good bug that got fixes with the new version. But ilk be looking at the fnv edit guiede so I can fully learn how to used it. Thank you all for the help :)
