predmon
Hey guys sup?First off, if this is the wrong sub forum/thread..sorry and please move it to a correct section. i am currently wanting to install mods for my FO3 game..with all the normal DLC's, ive watched a vid done by someone on how to install mods and what kind of programs i should use, please do not give me the " well theres your answer ". So i have some questions about mod compabilities...For example 1- is ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated tool needed???? 2- should i just use...?? 7-zipFOSEFallout Mod ManagerFO3Edit 3- is Fellout okay to just use, or is there a compatible Texture pack...thats easy to install? id like my game to look pretty lol i had more questions but...one mod proved to be to much for its instalation...and another seemingly useless. the ones i wanna add are... *Games for Windows LIVE Disabler*Fake Fullscreen Mode Windowed - Alt Tab Fix*Fallout 3 - HD Audio Overhaul - v1_2*Fellout*EVE - Energy Visuals Enhanced*A Note Easily Missed*To sleep - perchance to dream*The Institute - a fully voiced quest mod*Death Canyon v3*FWE - FO3 Wanderers Edition The texture pack would be GREATLY appreciated...was considering MMM's but..i dunno... please and thanks for any help! the way im gonna try and install the mods are via this guy's vids, found on nexus. Glenstorm
Use FOMM. You can install mods that come in pretty much any package including FOMOD (best), rar, zip and 7z. As long as they come packaged right. This is correct in the cases of most mods. Some come with a variety of ESPs of which only one should be enabled. You need to do some manual work over there (delete unwanted esp). But otherwise everything is installed by a touch of the button. ArchiveInvalidation is needed. FOMM comes with a similar tool, but idk, it doesn't work for me. So I need an external invalidator. MMM is AWESOME! I installed it like a week ago and enjoy it every bit. Except Wanamingos and Floaters, coz they just look out of place. If you use Fellout, get a torchlight mod because your screen is going to turn pitch black at night. Even your Pip-boy won't help you see more than 3 metres ahead. FOSE is required for FWE but I can't help you there. I don't really like FOSE (I have no idea why, its a really nifty application). liquidlight88
NMCs hi res texture pack is pretty simple to install really ( i use the lowest quality 'lite' pack and even that looks excellent): I believe 'Fellout' now comes with a super-duper pip boy light included to cope with those dark nights (but i don't use fellout cause' i hate the dark nights and pink horizon/sunsets and the mod just looks a bit wierd on my laptop. I used 'Clear skies' for a while instead; http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1390 ... but got fed up with that also. So i've ended up using 'Alternating timescale' (makes time pass slower), and modded it with the geck to make all the region weathers use the 'wasteland clear' weather (basically clear skies all the time) and made the sunrise and sunsets mutch longer so effectively i get rid of the yellowy tint the game has in the daytime by having longer orangy sunrise/sunsets a lot of the time. So i only have to put up with that yellow tint for a few hours a day. It's just to my taste thats all and i prefer it, and also the game runs a little easier on my laptop with clear weather. Alternating timescale mod: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15799 (there are other timescale mods to choose from also on the nexus) I also use FO3 ram boost (makes the game use 4 gig of ram instead of the default 2 gig) and it also disables games for windows live http://modsreloaded.com/fo3-ram-boost ... there's a bit of tinkering to do with that but it's worth it. Actually saying that it's really worth the effort some of these mods and fixes take to set up and install. Nobody is gonna do it for ya, you'll learn some stuff in the process, and if you don't you're basically left with vanilla FO3. It's your call! ;) Edited August 1, 2011 by liquidlight88
