FizzyFungus
press 'm' to go to the material editor, add a map to the piece you want to make see-throughIf you select a material, look to the right of the diffuse colour and change the opacity to about 20% another way is to press 'f10', go to the bottom of the list, change the renderer to the mental ray renderer, go to the material editor, assing a glass material to an empty slot and put it on the object. This is how to do it real quick
arcane20
There's actually better ways to make glass materials than just making it transparent. I do recommend going to google in future though.Link
jaysus
creating realistic glass is kinda not as easy as setting transluency higher... best use mental ray as your renderer, activate caustics and use mental ray glass as the material if you dont want to setup your own, glass is not only transluent it also breaks light, refracts it, reflects a certain percentage and so on... all things which heavily imrpove the immersion or realism
