ilikemodding1 Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 So my disc drive on my computer decided to burn out on me. And in order for me to play NV I need to have a disc in my drive. So does anyone know where I can get a LEGAL Digital Download (not steam, steam crashes my computer when I download from it) or if its legal to rip the data off the cd and use a virtual? drive ( i think thats what its called). I know that you can make back up discs of your games, so long as you don't sell them or give them away to other people, but is it the same for ripping and using the virtual drive? I'd prefer info on the ripping more because I don't want to spend another $50-$60 for a digital download. (this is to the admins: i have read the rules about piracy and hopefully I'm not violating them, but if so, please just delete the topic and not punish me) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

micalov Posted July 28, 2011 Share Posted July 28, 2011 The actual laws vary from country to country, but do know nexus does not support cracks/bypassing DRM, so you wont get any info on actually doing it here. What would recommend trying personally is, if you have another PC that you can download it on securely is download New Vegas, then backup the files via steam, burn those to disk or a USB stick (will require about 7-8 gig or 2 blank DVD's). Then just install steam on you home computer and run the steam setup within the burned files on your home computer. It basically works the same as installing from a legal purchased disk. EDIT: if you don't own steam version, you obvious don't have a legal version already, because ALL versions are steam including disk version. I always had the disc in, so I figured it ran off the disc. Never used steam before this, so I thought it was just some sort of registration program for Fallout. So my problem is solved then.
