csbx
I'm currently working on a mod that overhauls the dragon claw "puzzles" in Skyrim's dungeons. Part of the challenge of this is that I want to offer something more interesting and requiring of thought than LOOKATCLAWDONE! whilst avoiding creating so much of a challenge that it ruins the flow of the dungeon and frustrates those who don't find the puzzles very easy. For v1.0 of the mod I'm looking to tackle, e.g., Reachwater Rock. What I'm hoping to get some input on is whether that location is one in which it makes sense to create a more elaborate puzzle before the player pushes through the doors and faces off with the Gaulderson brothers. I notice that there are 3 doors that open automatically after the first claw is used, and that is something I'm considering altering. Any thoughts on this or other claw door locations ? nachtdaemmerung77
In my opinion, Reachwater Rock is a very good place for a better claw puzzle. The quest is a classic treasure hunt, so it would be fitting if the price is locked away with riddles. The three doors you mentioned could be a sort of three tests to prove your worth, skill or knowledge (like in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade with a mix of Fate of Atlantis, where you also had turning stone circles to open something) And I think, you can spice up all the puzzle doors, the ones connected to important quests a little less, the other some more. Skyrim is lacking some puzzles ;)
jones177
For a better puzzle all you need to do it remove the answer from the claw. Another is to put another puzzle door behind the original & use another combination or "mod claw" to open it. In vanilla & modded dungeons, looking in containers & chests becomes meaningless. It would not be if you had to find more claws. In old 16/32 bit games, 3 doors 3 puzzles & a trap door if you got it wrong was the norm.
