I decided to start up New Vegas again, so I reinstalled the game, installed the patch and downloaded the latest versions of the mods I use. But the problem is that it crashes randomly on me, usually while travelling outdoors or transitioning areas. Downloaded and installed the latest videocard drivers, and my spec is far above what the game needs. If anyone can help me with this I'd be really grateful, I really feel like playing New Vegas but the crashing is making it hard.

I know it seems like an awful lot of plugins, but most could be rolled into one "tweak mod", because they affect just one small thing. For example, I have a separate plugin for movement speed, but that could easily have been rolled into something else. Btw, does it matter if it's in different ESPs? Would it crash less if I started integrating it into bigger files?

One more thing, I have many mods that conflict, in regards to many mods editing the same weapons and such. My assumption is that the one loaded last overrides everything else without a problem, or could it cause increased instability by having multiple ESPs modifying one thing?

EDIT: Did my load order the way you advised as well, everything helps.

Well if you put .esp's that relate like iv done for you it can help a little. As for having mods that do the same thing it probably most likely could like say for example my Toki Sudoku mod. Since hes a redesign of raul and you had a different redesign of raul from another author and activate both than im sure something isent going to go right. Could cause bugs and crashes

Hate to say it, but you very likely just have to get rid of at least 25 of those... it's not that a mod may do small things, but that you've got so many mods. Rumor has it that the 'new max' is about 75.

One of the 'new' big problems is 'small mods', I guess.

I'd suggest doing away with as many 'small mods' as you can in order to get your mod-list as low as you can...

For instance... and I'll do this with "my" mods so as to not be accused of playing favorites, but get rid of ELECTRO-CITY : DARKER NIGHTS and get rid of UWRL. Instead, use NEVADA SKIES - URWLIFIED which contains a NIGHT DARKENER. Also, kill DUSTY DISTANCE (won't work with NSKIES).

You probably are running up against some other conflicts as I see a mishmash of mods that all seem to do similar things... for instance, ARWEN's + XFO + MODIFIED COMBAT VALUES all deal with the same stuff. Pick one.

And I'm sure if you dig around you'll find mods that your don't REALLY need. I can't make these decisions for you, 'cause everyone likes to play a different way, but do you REALLY need VERONICA to have a different robe and/or Boone to be grizzled (no disrespect to those mods) when you can get any one of 3 different - and more comprehensive - NPC mods that are currently available? Maybe yes... maybe no... haha...

Some of them offer things that you could probably tweak in GECK in no time in order to make your own combo-mod. Or maybe make a mergedpatch (or whatever). Not sure if those still work with the new version of the game, but I'm throwing it out there.

The other thing might simply be that you're pushing your machine a little too hard. Maybe back down your draw distances, lower your AA or ANI, reduce your resolution, etc. What's great for that is NV CONFIGATOR (spelling mistake is correct actually).

Good luck!

Does it work if I merge a few smaller mods with FNVEdit as well, say I merge 10 esps into one without getting rid of any of the functions? But yeah, I do realize I might have to cut down a bit.

EDIT: I've merged a lot of mods and deleted a couple, and have come to this new load order.

Hey

I have many of these mods and was getting tons of crashes as well

I think there is some type of confilct going on with Project Nevada because I disabled it and kept IWS, AWOP, Electro City and Warzones (these are what I call major mods) and my crashes are greatly reduced. I really enjoyed Project Nevada, but I gave FOOK a try this morning and have not encountered any crashes in the last several hours, despite the fact that all other major mods I mentioned are also enabled. So, I'd try to get rid of Project NV and see if it helps. Good luck

Ok, I'll try that, though Project Nevada is pretty much the most essential of all my mods lol.

I know right? It is really, really good, but I have been playing all day without it and have only crashed once. Who knows if it's just me though, maybe I messed something up, though I've checked the load order, patches, compatibility ect very carefully. Please let me know how things go

EDIT: I forgot to ask about textures, if you are doing HD or UHQ type textures, such as OJO Bueno you may need to look into 4 GB loaders for NV, make sure to get a NVSE friendly version. Basicly this allows you to use more memory to play the game with, and it may stop some crashing, expecially graphics load crashes..cheers
