Random CTDs

Texture mods, while awesome, have been some of the biggest problems for me, I have Weapon retexture project, detailed normals poco buenos and VFOs texture mods running alongside each other, in that order, beautifully (though some files were overridden from detailed normals by pocos).. But it seems a lot of armor retextures and the like cause massive framerate issues and CTDs, (NCR rearmament started to lag and crash whenever I encountered 3 or more troopers in the new armor at a time, Ojo buenos texures slowed my framerate massively when in the new interiors, and noticeably when outside and TGs armor mod had massive hangup issues when equipping etc, and even more when I tried to add certain armors to NPC leveled lists (namely the new helmets, gloves etc)

Man look into the nvse (if you need nvse, if not get the standard version) 4gb loader ( http://nvse.silverlock.org/beta/fnv4gb_nvse.zip) like I told Dath9, it will save you from many CTD, if your machine has the chops to run HD in the first place

EDIT damn ment to edit my previous post, not double post

nice dude, glad to hear. I was in the same boat and man, it was really getting me down...nearly stopped playing.

I personally plan on playing with nothing but Project Nevada and texture tweeks next time through, but as I said before, using FOOK right now and it is very stable. Be warned it changes many textures as well, so you may need to reapply OJO Bueno or whatever you use if anything

I've been thinking of using FOOK, but I have always been spectical about installing big "overhaul" mods... Do you think FOOK is worth it?

From what I've seen Project Nevada works great alone but doesn't play well with others because it makes so many changes. Although different, you may have better luck with FOOK if only because there seems to be a more active community around it thus more updates (like the one today).

It probably wouldn't hurt to make a merge patch in FNVEdit as well to further help with those conflicts. Also use BOSS to make sure you load order is the best it can be.

That's all the ideas I have. Good luck. :)

I can't play Fallout without a major overhaul myself, so I am not the least biased person to ask, but FOOK is really fun..but the changes are perhaps not as dramatic or noticable, at fist anyway, as Project Nevada. So, installing one or the other, just as long as you are not using another Major overhaul mod, is low risk, high reward IMO so yes it is worth the download. Be warned though, FOOK changes textures, I think the changes look good myself, but I think the texture changes will stick around even after you disable the mod. I would recomend that you try Project Nevada, by itself or with very minor mods to start with, and then move to FOOK later on. Good luck

I've tried Project Nevada, and I loved it, but it also crashed me constantly. The reason I'm sceptical about downloading FOOK is not because I like the vanilla game, it's just that I'm worried it might cause stability issues..

No issues with stability, for example I have played for 4 hours this morning, and I crashed once. Here are the major mods I am using with FOOK:

IWS full

AWOP

Arwen's realism (this has to be loaded after FOOK, and it takes away the flavor weapon names added by FOOK and, I had to start a new game in order to make the food and h20 function the right way, you may wish to skip this one)

Electro City

Warzones

Modified Combat values

EVE

and many minor mods as well as texture and shader tweeks

Any chance you could give a shot of your load order?

No idea if this load out works with saved games or not, but

If you start a brand new game, and do not activate anything from FOOK. Go through character creation, go outside of the Doc's house and wait until you get the Med Tech quest for Arwen's Realism, finish this little quest then make a save. Exit the game, enable FOOK and make sure it is in the place I have it up in this load list (before Arwen's) this will remove the flavor text for weapons, so you will see 9mm not Browning High Power or whater Fook renamed the gun to. But, this loadout is very stable on my machine, now I just can't give in to the temptation of adding more mods..it really is damn addictive

Also, be forwarned that this loadout makes the game brutal, nearly hellishly hard because of the high spawn and the lethality of combat, so IWS may not be needed for those who dont like getting their asses kicked.

Good luck!

Lol, I have the IWS high spawn plugin activated + modded zombie apocalypse (zombies 800 hp, 50 dmg) + really high weapondmg, so my game is already hard xD
