Controls frozen can't find fix D: Please help.

Hello. I am new to the forums. I have had fallout 3 steam copy for like 2 years? 1 year? anyways I played it for a long time and loved this game. It was the best game I had ever played, but I eventually decided to uninstall it and didn't play it again for months. While I played it at first I think I did encounter some glitches and stuff and fixed them, I also had a bunch of mods and did some of my own modding which usually resulted in a too overpowered weapon that I threw away. Back to the point. Now I have reinstalled FO3 and when I play for about 5-20 minutes I will lose control of the character. The mouse freezes and I cannot move, cannot escape menu. If I am running then, then I keep running. If I am sitting fighting an enemy, the enemy will kill me. I can't even find anything about this on the internet, so I am really worried I won't find a fix here. I just really want to play FO3 again and try out the new mods that have come out, some of which look really great! I have tried the modding the ini file, and installed codecs, and maybe a couple other fixes and some random attempts, but it keeps persisting no matter what I do. I even reinstalled it again. Note: this is not just inside the vault. I managed to get ouside the vault and it is in megaton, and even outside in other places. I don't think I have had it happen just out in the open yet, but that could just be because I was mostly in the vault of megaton. I will attach my fallout.ini file to make sure I did that fix right, but I doubt it is the right fix. Please help me :(

thanks

oops, it won't let me attach the file. too bad. I will just copy and paste the part that I edited.

bUseThreadedAI=1

iNumHWThreads=2

directly copied and pasted from the file.

edit: I forgot to mention I'm on a Alienware M15x with win 7 premium home and i7 720qm, 4gb ram, ATI mobility 5870, I tried the game multiple settings, this has never happened in another game that I can remember. It's not the mouse, the touchpad frozen too. But I can Ctrl alt dlt out of it.

If you have a joystick attached unplug it.

Also you might want to read the site's T&Cs on the subject of bumping topics.. :thumbsup:

I'm not using a joystick just a mouse, but the laptop touchpad also doesn't work in this situation. What are T&Cs and where do I read them? Or you could just explain maybe your not allowed to bump or something?

T&Cs = Terms & Conditions. There's a link somewhere on the site. I just emphasised the bumping thing because people have been kicked, or pulled a strike, for repeated bumping, and you might have found that fact helpful. I think they don't mind one bump though :thumbsup:

EDIT: to add: Just FYI, here's the relevant link >>>

The bit about bumping comes under 'spam'

Ah. Thanks for pointing that out. Too bad I can't bump this because it seems like the kind of problem people will just ignore and kick it under the carpet. I guess I can say goodbye to ever playing fallout 3 again. /weep
