UCBeef
try opening the console and typing EnablePlayerControls Problem is that all input becomes disabled. You can't get to the console, let alone type any commands. You can Alt+Tab out of the game and the mouse/keyboard work fine, Alt+tab back into FO3 and it remains unresponsive to input (mouse cursor frozen in the middle of the screen and keyboard won't work) but the game is not frozen/locked up. lunatech666
Glad to see some people are finally commenting on my problem. Its also nice to see somebody has the same problem! That console command looked useful except if you can't even open the escape menu then how would the console open? The console open button is tilde right? I have never been able to open console in any game on this laptop, Ive read some other people have same problem with this same laptop and maybe theres a fix though. Man I would really like to play this game again. Hey. Maybe there is some key that I accidentally pressed that disabled controls? I doubt it. quicksilverva
when you press the tilde key, does the background blur and the game pause??
UCBeef
when you press the tilde key, does the background blur and the game pause?? nothing happens. nothing registers in game. I just had it freeze and hit every button on the keyboard. f12 did a screenshot for Steam and s***+tab brings up the Steam Overlay with the desktop mouse which also works fine. the game keeps running until you hit Alt+Tab and are returned to the desktop. If you Alt+Tab back into the game it is at the pause menu, but again nothing registers in game. I just Alt+Tab back to the desktop and close the game out and start over. makes saving every couple minutes pretty critical. For the people that are experiencing the same issue please post some information about your systems.tried various game freeze fixes with no noticeable differenceno anti virus runninguninstalled Realtek audio driveruninstalled Klite codec packFallout New Vegas runs perfectly with absolutely no issues i7 950Asus X58 Sabertooth MBDual Ati HD4850 in crossfire latest Catalyst driver (never had any other graphics/freezing issues)Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Wireless Microsoft Desktop keyboard generic wired mouse Edited August 11, 2011 by UCBeef
lunatech666
Yea sorry I wasnt replying to this for a while, even though I made this thread. I also tried a lot of fixes including uninstalling sound drivers and klite codec pack. Fallout new vegas runs fine for me too, except for this glitch where its way more stupid and less plot-rich than FO3, oh wait thats not a glitch it just is stupid. Heres some specs of my computer incase it makes a difference. this is a laptop (alienware M15x)i7 720qmdon't know the mobo but I dont think it's asus so it probably isn't the problem since yours is asussingle ATI mobility 58704gb ram 1333mhzwindows 7 home premium 64 bitkeyboard is the one inside the laptop, glad we ruled that out if you got a wireless desktop oneand a generic wired mouse as well, but the touchpad is also disabled when this glitch happens in FO3 UCbeef, this problem might have to do with our similar hardware such as i7 processors, ATI graphics cards, the combo of said components, or the compilation of said components and software. It seems there are so many possibilities how will we ever find a fix to be able to play fallout 3 once again?
