Fallout 4 Far Harbor DLC To Have Elevators, Boxcars And Tons of Other Items

Beth ain't stupid. They've got two more workshop PAID DLCs coming to milk gamers who want that kinda content, but seemingly have an inability to use mod search on Nexus.

I've gotta say- the workshop DLCs should have been FREE- like all the small DLC packs for Witcher 3. But Beth's greed knows no bounds. People really need to remove the blinkers, and remove their good will from Bethesda- people PAID for FO4, so their is ZERO reason to 'thank' Beth for the game.

Look how EA has just laughed in the face of its customers, by telling them that they canned the single player campaign from last Xmas Star Wars Battlefront game, just so they could hit the Xmas deadline- >1/3 of the game MISSING, yet EA kept the release price the same. WORSE- EA could have easily finished the campaign and released it FOR FREE several months later to those who already bought the game, but chose to save their money and rip-off their customers instead

Lousy publisher attitudes to paying customers abound in the current computer game business. Yet too many gamers continue to lavish 'praise' on such publishers, just cos they like the games they PAID for.

The publishers are the ones to be blamed not the developers.

So far, there seems to be a healthy amount of quest content (Awesome!) and I really love the setting thus far as well. I still think the DLC will be well worth its money, but I have yet to finish of course so time will tell.

My complaint is simply that they cut a LOT of the workshop items that were clearly planned / already added, they had as the OP mentioned several new and exciting categories including weapon and armor displays (proper working versions). Unfortunately, they removed that content to obviously be sold later down the line for more money, which is something I really, really dislike developers doing. If the content was ready to go, it should have been included, even if they felt it added too much value to the DLC.

The DLC is also light in the weapon category, considering its about the same as Automatron for new weapons. It has a few new outfits / armor, but I don't think they even included the new power armor that I had seen mentioned previously. All I saw in the file was a paint scheme for the T-51 PA only.

Just seems like for a DLC world of this size and quest amount, that there should have been a larger selection of new weapons, armor, etc than there appears to be.

This is NOT to say that I am hating the DLC or wanting a refund etc. Just my observations. As I said above, I am loving it thus far, even with the workshop items being removed and the low amount of items, its pretty neat.

Well I felt extremely butthurt by it because I tore down a large chunk of the Spectacle Island home that took me HOURS upon HOURS to wire up to several independent switch boxes and I had to get crafty with the wiring to make it look right and I was relying on advanced switches and an elevator to make the dream home on spectacle island I saw in my head the very very first time I played Fallout 4.

Plus I want armor and weapon displays to make a showroom for all the cool and gnarly things I've found in the Wasteland and later (when I have time to play Far Harbor) on the coast.

Plus I want to display my hats and my outfits and just have a freaking treasure trove like I'm a pirate ARGHHH

So yeah, I was pretty butthurt about it. I'm not mad at Bethesda but they really let me down with the cut of content

Things we can do to avoid "horse armor" situations...

*Never pre-perchase or buy season pass

*Buy DLCs responsibly: read reviews and articles first.

*Don't give publishers/developers incentive to gut contents that should be in the game in the first place, do not buy "horse armor" dlcs....EVER... vote with your money.

Far harbor as a DLC is worth it even if it got some settlement items gutted, it's a proper expansion, the story alone is worth it. However, it would've been even better with the gutted items.

I really just want proper armor and weapon displays....and the Basement Living mod for PS4 / Xbox One LOL

That would be amazing!

I'm not sure this will be well received in this thread, but i'm gonna say my piece anyway.

You all seem to assume the removed, or not fully implemented, items were purposely removed, or not included, in order to "milk" the community. I haven't seen any evidence this is the case, there is nothing saying they won't release it later as a free DLC, possibly with the GECK. On the other hand there isn't anything saying they will either, paid or free.

There are some other possibilities you may not have considered. The development industry is a very deadline focused environment, if something isn't in working condition, hasn't been bug tested, or is only half finished, it will get left out of the final product when its time to release it, they even go as far as deleting all the content from the release that wasn't working, wasn't bug tested, or was partially finished, even if it would take 10 minutes to fix or add it.

Also, that DLC is probably what paid for Fallout 4 in the first place, if they didn't get enough money from their other products to make another game, they rely on the DLC of those other games. If that doesn't provide enough profit, then you get no game at all.

I'm not saying they aren't going to actually try to "milk" the community, that is a possibility, I am just asking everyone to take a breath, wait and see, its not always a sinister plot to part you from your money. EA being the exception not the rule, those guys are toeing the line between legal appropriation of funds and extortion. I would be very surprised if someone in that company wasn't embezzling.

I have not tried Far Harbor yet, but I loved the Automatron and Workshop DLC's. I did get the season pass before its price increase, so I did save around 25$ or more. So I say I got my monies worth and then some.

Far Harbor is more than worth its money as is, do not get me wrong. Its a fantastic DLC that will entertain for a long while. I just dont like seeing content removed for later sale (That much workshop items will not be free, I can all but promise you that. Its about as much or more than the workshop DLC.).

Its also pretty likely they still intend for it to be in the game, as the menus are set up with these categories still, too.

But again, Far Harbor is still quite good. I bought the season pass anyway, so I am far from devastated, as I will eventually get the content anyway. So I apologize if it seems I am super mad or anything, as that isnt true.

Well said. Totally agree.

Although... I bought the season pass outright, because judging by Bethesda's past with DLC, 30 bucks was a laughably low investment/risk.

IMO, this business/consumer model in question is only a problem with most other publishers.
