Can someone help with OBSE?

lol I redid my post a few times, I didn't read the quote you made so I might have given you a lil more info with my final edition... Reread mine and see if it helps more. I agree sometimes they should be a lil more helpful with a full step by step tutorial and why you don't need the others and maybe even what they are really for. I think most modders assume that everyone knows what they are doing and forget about the newer people...

WELL. This is another bummer now, see I bought the GOTY one, have not installed the add-ons for it. Just only the main game I installed.

I went to bethseda website, and I downloaded the only one patch I know about for it.

I double clicked on it, it installed, told me I was updated, yet now I try this program, and I get this. Jpeg installed to show what its telling me.

SO, I have not a clue what I am suppose to do now.

I would think a game sold today in 2010 made back in 2006 abouts, this would be solved when the OBSE was written. But I dont know very little about this program, and not sure how to use it now.

BTW, I went and got the latest OBSE which is what I dled when went there from here to get it by way of help in these forums.

I only know one version of Oblivion, and that is the one I bought.

As well it is a retail new one, not a copy, or stolen etc etc.. Brand new/sealed when bought.

:-( OH WELL... Thanks

WBTW, I wonder why when OBSE is updated, why it is not written to just work with any and all versions of the game?

Specially when I don't seem to be aware of any versions of the game sold as being this 1.2.0.416?

Why not write the OBSE to work with ALL versions, the 1.1.0.511 too any others?

When I bought the game, I had not a clue what version was in the sealed new game.

But I guess the coders can better explain that, maybe..

I know I do not know.. Smiles

My link

Top of the page, that is the official patch for .416

Also an FYI, if you go into your oblivion folder right click the original .exe that you got when you installed the game, right click it go to properties and check "details" It will tell you what version you are running.

Once you have the .416 patch move the files that you need to for OBSE, boot up the game, save, then check your save files using the path I posted, see if you have the "double" save. If you do you are in! Then you can just verify that it is working by loading in a mod that requires OBSE to work.

Gonna hit the sack, I hope you get it working. If not I'll check this thread tomorrow and see where you stand.

OK, do you mean this one there?

OBLIVION PATCH v1.2.0416

Oblivion_v1.2.0416English.exe(5.1 MB) 04/30/2007

This patch is for North American (English) versions.

This patch is NOT compatible with copies purchased via direct2drive or localized versions of Oblivion.

Please Note: You do not need to install this patch if you have already Installed the Shivering Isles expansion.

If yes, that is the patch I used before when I bought the game and read about anything on needing it.

UNLESS, perhaps I got a bad dl, I will try it again.

ok, yah, the exe is showing me.

1.1.511

I wonder why the patch did not take, ok I will try again, sec brb.

thx

HMMMMMM. thats ODD, I know I got it from there before, and even used it.

But it could have been a minor glitch, even though it past it told me it got updated.

HOWEVER, it did same this time, but perhaps good news, this time when it took (or it seemed to), it now is asking me to place in game disk.

Software at times CAN be goofy, I know this from experience.

I had to have gotten a bad dl the day I did it.

And WOOT WOOT!, get this, its now showing the exe as being

1.2.0416, ok, before when I did it, thought it was done correct because it told me was done.

laughs.

Well, ok, me will try loading the game now, and if NP that will be end of the how to fix that part/ part. Though my post still stands as to other matter, the version thingy came up on me without knowing it was going to.

Thanks

Ahh, do you have a "PEA" for a brain?

Well, they do say that no good deed goes unpunished. Thanks for the unsolicited attack.

PEHAPS, SOMEONE, might wish to make/build a mod using OBSE...

As well for playing one.

It is after all designed to be used for both built mods (using it), and those that get built (with it), is this not correct?

Now, >>>IF<< that above is an correct comment, it then would stand to make one (OR ANYONE), to reason when they ask how to install OBSE, that there would (or least I would think to reasonably consider), that knowing what can be done to use/install/ and place the file/s where there needed, does help to cover ALL BASES...

When you wish to write a mod to use OBSE, you still do not need to install those source code files. The same "copy these three files into this directory" instructions work for both players and modders.

You only need the source files if you wish to create your very own version of OBSE - and at that point you are presumed to be a competent programmer who is able to figure out what to do.

However, I thank you for (your) fast responce as you did.

Yet your reply does not help anyone (if very few) to what my post was acually asking about.

:-)

No worries. I shan't try to help you again.

Ahhhh Ok, now that is very helpful info. Thanks....

Now, just where does one decide to install the CS?

Does it go into the very same place OBSE sits?

More importantly: Does one use the OBSE editor exe (I think its called?) to fire up the CS so one can tweak a mod that was made using the OBSE?

On those thoughts, I wonder what CS am I suppose to use, with my version of the game and OBSE, and when tweaking mods in the future or making them when/if when I choose to?

And BTW:

I seen of one of your mods you made about containers.

That looks cool, I dled it and later am going to check it..

From the info on it you gave, seems I might enjoy that.

Thanks for that as well!
