Dual Wield

Skyrim is using the Creation Engine, Fallout 3/NV uses the Gamebryo engine, they're both completely different. Even if that video shows it's possible, it won't be practical on NV or FO3. If it was, I'm pretty sure we would have dual wielding mods on the top 100 mod list by now.

Using a game that isn't even released yet as an example is STUPID(please note that I'm referring to the use Skyrim as an example being stupid, NOT hadoumastery).

In addition, dual wield in Fallout, at least in my opinion, wouldn't feel right. In every canon Fallout title, the PC has NOT been some kind of super soldier, trained in pre-war techniques. Can dual wield be learned with a reasonable level of competence in time? Of course. But to use Fallout NV's arms in an example, most players with such a mod would lock n load a pair of 9/10/12.7mm SMGs, which would wreck the game's balance. Deathclaws? Bloody chunks. Caser's Legion Assassins? WHAT assassins? Hell, the entire NCR Armed Forces in the Mojave? Splattered Rangers, blitzed troopers and obliterated officers.

Bottom line - despite my above comments, I'd love to see such a mod be made and work properly. But realistically, I'm too much of a Fallout vet to fully enjoy it, not to mention the fact that the Gamebryo engine(as it was when FO3 was released) is not set up to take full advantage of such a mod. That might have changed by now, with possible updates and modifications to the engine for New Vegas, but it's more likely that if dual wield is going to be Skyrim, then we'll have to wait for the next Fallout title to experience a proper dual wield.

If you turned up the difficulty, then the damage advantage from the dual-wielded weapons would be re-balanced again. Thing is, even with a single weapon, the player can easily kill anything in the game anyway depending on their level. At level 30, I cut down the Legendary Deathclaw in a matter of seconds, it didn't even managed to hit me once.

From what I've seen it would require editing an incredible number of animation files. If you're interested then invalidfate has posted a video here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39399 just don't expect to be able to use it in your game.

Now regarding lore and stuff, many people argue about realism and that seems to me to be a rather weak argument especially when we're talking about a mod for a game that is certainly not known for its realism.

As a side note I remember playing Fallout 1 and 2 and switching between the two weapon slots. I always thought that the fact that the character had two weapon slots had something to do with the fact that the character had two hands and could use them both. ;)

Anyway, perhaps we'll get some sort of dual wielding for Fallout 4. In the meantime I'm afraid that there isn't much that can be done.
