taylorcsisk
So I just started learning to mod my game yesterday. I found a bunch of awesome ones that I cannot wait to try out!!Problem is, as soon as I try to start my game up this morning, it crashes. Every time. Is it because I put some mods in that do not work? The OBMM does not tell me I have any conflicts. Do I have to keep the zip files?
Latee
The mods need to be loaded in specific order, otherwise the game might crash. To create load order with no conflicts you should use program called wrye bash. Try learning how to use it properly, there's a good manual attached to the file. MShoap13
OBMM is more than capable of altering your load order. Also, BOSS is a very nice utility that does most of your load order sorting for you. With BOSS you may have to tweak it's load order a little for a handful of mods as complications arise in-game. On to your issue, if you're running Oblivion on Windows Vista or 7 and Oblivion is installed in the default \Program Files directory, Windows UAC can and will cause problems with modding. The first thing you should do in this case is move Oblivion to another directory such as C:\Games following this guide. If you're still having issues after moving your install, check your mods to see if they have any specific requirements, program dependencies, or if there are patches available for them (BOSS will tell you if a mod has any updates available). On a general note when posting for help, posting your system specs, load order (preferably in a spoiler tag) and any mods that don't have a plugin (such as OBSE) can be very helpful.
