AdjustedJunk
OK well first off, I'm new to the PC scene and have recently started modding my FNV experience with a couple of simple mods. Thing is, I keep freezing at random points in the game...sometimes 3-5 times in the span of 15-20 min. I followed all the installations to the letter, even have FOMM to manage the more substantial mods. Here are the mods I currently have/load order: Fallout NV.esmDead Money.esmHonest Hearts.esmNVWillow.espProject Nevada - Core.esmProject Nevada - Equipment.esmProject Nevada - Cyberware.espProject Nevada - Rebalance.espProject Nevada - Dead Money.espProject Nevada - Honest Hearts.espHitman Suit NV-B.espsexysleepwearnr.espNVLadyoutfitXOH.espGFemale Pyjamas.esp I also have BOG's Hi-Rez Hi-detailed body replacer, which doesn't show up in the load order but does show up in the "Package Manager" along with PNV. If someone knows why I'm having this issue(Freezing), please let me know or if you would not mind helping me though it, I would greatly appreciate it. JasonDangerously
I've been having issues with my mods as well but I know what the problem is, I just can't fix it. The short of it is that Project Nevada is at the core of it. I'm not saying anything bad about the mod, but my first guess is that for you it's with PN. How did you install it? I know on the page they strongly recommends doing a FOMod install, and that doing it manually can very likely cause issues. So if you did it manually, uninstall it and re-install as a FOMod. Unfortunately PN doesn't come with the cool little thing that BlackBlossom's Type3 replacer does, the executable file that automatically starts the FOMod process. So for PN I just pointed FOMM at the unzipped PN file through 'Add FOMod' in the top right corner which worked for me. Also, the sexysleepwearnr.esp I'm not familiar with, but I know BB's Type3 replacer affects the sexy sleepwear and naughty nightwear, so maybe disable that esp? Other than that, I can't think of anything else. If the re-install of PN doesn't work, just go through and disable the mods you don't need in order until the game runs properly. Another thing, you're going to want to make a merged patch, I'll post the instructions at the bottom of this. I hope this helps. Sorry your initial foray into PC gaming/modding had to be like this. =) Also, a word of advice for future modding operations, install one at a time, and test them in-game before moving on to the next. It'll save you a lot of headache later on as your load list grows. As per user Antistar, and blatantly plagiarized from his WMX readme:"Automatic Merged Patch Creation: - This is strongly recommended as standard practice when using mods for FNV (especially a lot of mods at the same time), as it may improve compatibility between mods you may be using (including - but not limited to - WMX). If using more than one add-on for WMX at the same time (this includes compatibility patches), creating an automatic merged patch is even MORE important (assuming you want everything to work correctly). - Download FNVEdit (http://www.newvegasn...le.php?id=34703) to create the 'merged patch'. This should be done after you have installed and activated all the mods you wish to play the game with (and have configured your load order using a mod manager tool). This is how to do it: - Run FNVEdit, and a list of all the plugins in your Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\ directory will come up, listed as per your load order. By default, the plugins you have activated in the New Vegas Launcher or in a mod manager tool will have ticks next to them. This is what you want, so just click 'OK'. - Once FNVEdit has finished loading, right-click somewhere in the panel on the left that lists your activated plugins, and select 'Create Merged Patch' from the context menu. - Enter a name for the patch into the window that pops up (any name you like), and click on 'OK'. - Once FNVEdit has finished generating the patch (it creates a new .esp file with the name you entered), which should only take a few seconds, close FNVEdit. Click 'OK' on the window that pops up to save the Merged Patch that was generated. - Finally, make sure the Merged Patch esp is loading after all your other plugins (which it should already be, by default), and activate it using the New Vegas Launcher or a mod manager tool. - If you ever uninstall plugins, update existing plugins, or install new ones, deactivate and delete the Merged Patch, and then follow these instructions again to create a new one." Actually, you mention freezing, I had the same issue when I started playing FO3 years ago, but it was due to hardware issues. What kind of processor does your computer use? n0t0ryczny
Your loadlist is very short; DLCs that don't affect Mojave, one companion mod and some clothing/armor plus a body replacer. That is nothing. Possible issues: - are you sure your PC is up to the task?- defragment your drive - that is a must- maybe some of those small .esp files are 'dirty' - author looked at a lot of things in GECK when editing them and though they don't change anything they contain references to vanilla entries, and that may affect the performance. jnecros
If your machine is up to speed and can handle the game itself, you may want to look into RAM management. Getting the 4BG loader for FNV, and make sure it is NVSE friendly if any of those mods require it, may help because I think it basicly forces more ram to be used in the game and will stop freeze ups and crashes due to hitting the vanilla processing limit. AdjustedJunk
Thanks everyone for the input. Fortunately, I've since resolved the "issue". The solution? Removed PN. Sad, sad, sad. Edit: BTW, for those asking...these are my meager specs: Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40GHzRAM: 6GBGraphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9600m GT (512 MB) Semi-decent for a laptop if I do say so myself. walrus2517
PN is an amazing mod, it just doesn't play well with others. If there are only a few effects from PN you really like though you can usually find individual mods that do the same thing.
