default fallout new vegas will only allow up to two gigs of ram to be reserved for the game while playing regardless of how much ram you actually have. you are probably maxing out after a few minutes.

 

To enable up to 4 gigs of ram to be used you need fnv4gb which you can get here: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35262

 

if you are running nvse, after you install the above, go to nvse website and scroll down to the alternate loader at the bottom and install that here: http://nvse.silverlock.org/

Hi again. the game seems to be working fine. However, whenever i close it down the game will crash.

 

when i click exit and go back to the desktop i will get the message : fallout new Vegas has stopped working. should this worry me?

I had that happen to me like 4 installs ago, because i had some mod that was supposed to help with game stability, that came with a .dll i think and caused me that same problem. was unaware that it had anything to do with 4gb? I have fnv4gb on my system now and its certainly not doing that. It must conflict with some other thing you have in your game files. I wish i could be more helpful and point out what specifically it was, but i just ended up re-installing to get rid of that issue. i never figured out exactly what it was.

 

i had suspected it was the geck powerup i had installed, or the new vegas stutter remover, or a .jar file mod tool called fnv plugin, that caused the ctd on close but i was never able to narrow down the conflict.

My game crashes the majority of the time when I try to exit as well. I wouldn't worry about it as it seems to have zero effect the next time I play. :)
