braidedsin
I was wondering if there was a way to limit NV to just a couple of weapons and their respective ammo types. IE: 2 pistols, 2-3 automatic rifles, 2 shotguns, 2-3 grenades, 2-3 standard rifles. The reason I ask is that with so much diversity (which is really cool and all) if you're not packing 6 different long barreled weapons you might as well forget about the raider's loot who's using a .32 pistol... It breaks immersion somewhat but I think it would be more fun to have just a few & that way you're guaranteed some extra shells to waste (again, yes it breaks immersion) If anyone could help me with this or point me in the direction of a tutorial (would NVedit be able to do this?) I'd be very appreciative.
lemonfan1
When it comes to so much ammunition when I, myself, only carry a few different types of guns on me, I make use of a reloading bench to break down the ammunition I can't use and make the kind I need. TrooperScooperMKII
Energy Weapons are your friend. Greater power, better stats (generally speaking) greater compatibility wrt ammo (and repairs) = awesomeness. Though, if you want to stick with conventional guns then you have more limited choices w/o modding. I'd recommend choosing two or three calibers and sticking with them, dropping/selling any other weapons and leaving or breaking down the ammo you aren't using. Generally speaking, I have at least one melee weapon (usually whatever I pick up from a recently sniped fiend or Legionary :ninja: ), a plasma and/or laser rifle, the Laser RCW, and a conventional shotgun/revolver ensemble. I tend to play low strength characters (maxed out intelligence and high agility & perception- ninja/strategy type characters are my thing) so weight balancing is very important for me; I avoid the heavy weapons- carrying a lot of grenades and mines instead- and keep varied ammo to a minimum. braidedsin
lol cool, I didn't think about breaking down the stuff I don't use and good point with the lasers. +rep you both and thank you
07Charger
Yea because i believe if you remove the weapons from the inventory they need to be replaced with others...i am just purely speculating.
hadoumastery
This can easily be done. Open your geck and look at the bottom most portion of the leveled item lists. It should be a bunch of things labeled "WithAmmo" and will contain other listings of ammo and weapons. These can be deleted or replaced to whatever you like. And for gun runners you can replace their lists as well because all of their lists are labeled "GunRunners".

Might save a lot of NPC's suddenly lacking weaponry :) Personally I just take their guns repair them to reduce the number of them to carry then sell them. braidedsin
Just in case anyone can use this info: Even if 80% of the guns are deleted they may still appear in game. I had done this and when I went up against 4 people from Goodsprings one of them ended up pulling out a varmint rifle, one I'd specifically deleted. When I went to pick up the item it disappeared from my inv and the world. It's not to say this always happens but it's almost as if the NPC can sort of cheat to make sure it has a weapon equipped. Found out that by removing most of the weapons you get a cool barebones thing where fighting has to be strategic, it's pretty neat...
