Ok, so i want to start creating my own mods but i dont really know which programs to use. the only one i heard of is nifskope so i got that and of course the TES CS.

Wat other programs do i need to get started? Oh ya, im not sure if this changes anyhing but i plan to do armor and weapon mods. If u guys could tell me the best free programs and maybe wat their used for that would be great! :)

DDS Converter.

Used to convert textures into usable files to change them and back into DDS.

BSA Commander.

Used to open up the BSA files to get the vanilla item meshes and texture.

Blender.

Used to make meshes.

Trust me, the way of making a full custom item is a long one.

No its not. You do a search, there are hundreds of custom armors and weapons around.

As well as Blender for 3D moddeling try Softimage XSI ModTool. Its free and powerful and does animations and rigging.

LOl yes it is It takes allot more then those progs to do Full custom Items

It takes you knowing How to model, texture, rig, Skin, and some scripting with some programing all of witch Take massive amounts of time to learn how to do and yers to do them really good

You don't need to learn scipting, thats for different kinds of modding. And devotion can get you anywhere. If you have the motivation to sit down and teach yourself how to moddel then you can do it. And some people are faster than others at picking up programs. I used AutoCad for graphics at school and within 2 weeks I was the top of the grade.
