Non Sexy Underwear Options For Female Characters

First off, the vanilla models in the game confuse me. Is it supposed to be cloth and leather looking like a modern bra with fastening in the back? And it's so skimpy. I just keep thinking how Fereldan is cold and wet and my group's in camp; who takes off all their clothes for sex in those conditions? Especially within an age where a sexy nightie might have been collarbone to knee - oooh, daring - and partially see through.

 

TMP7704 over on BSN has a wonderful Undwear is Pants model for the guys, and someone even did a retexturing. But is there anything similar that can be used for the female characters?

 

Isabela's corset like short shirt/short dress seems a perfect base for making an underslip for female characters. Her DA2 look has been imported via modders to DAO, but a mod use of her outfit for a slip hasn't been created yet. Not that I've found. Is that possible?

 

I've also seen corsets and underwear; but there's usually some lore breaking aspect, with gloves and buckles (wouldn't that hurt under armor - though maybe for some it's a replacement for armor?) and stockings (netted) or even if I could overlook the thong aspect, there's boots.

 

And I am unsure how I would rename/change such a thing to underwear. hf_arm_nuda -- I get lost from that point. How many files would I need to change?

 

I would ideally adore if DA2 TnT Bodyshop12 Mod could be reverse ported to DAO as an underwear model; it's part slip, part corset, seems like it'd work under a mage's gown or a warrior/rogue's armor. At least without the belt thingie. But I'd settle for just a corset and pants without too fragile looking string ties.

 

PS: Out on a limb - there is no way to differentiate between underthings for humans and underthings for elves (and/or even under things for dwarves) is there?

I could probably do it myself, but I have sadly too many projects of my own that I am currently working on. So I can't promise anything. I agree with you though that the vanilla underwear looks a bit fugly, so I hope that someone with more time on their hands can look into it.

You could of course try and do it yourself, but it would require you to change 7 meshes for all races (only 3 if you just want to do it for the girls) and their textures. So you would need, besides the toolset, a 2D image editing software (photoshop or gimp), and a 3D software (3ds max or blender) to make/change the meshes.

I think TMP just did something to match DAO Elf Bodies to DA2, (taking down the old file that changed the eyes only) and it includes underwear much like the image you've shown. I just found the update! Problem is I loathe the feline+navi+extra skinny DA2 models. I'm not sure it's worth the under things - there aren't enough pictures to tell. Right now all I feel is thankfulness I downloaded the eye modification when I found it.

And I remember looking into blender, when was it, last year? I think my head exploded. Photoshop or Gimp I can work with. 3D stuff, and my last experience at least, was an urge for constant headdesking.

 

Also the dwarven female's underthings are more what I had in mind for most, actually, seeing as the bows for DA2 just make me wonder about wardrobe malfunctions when in armor.

The elf underwear replacement is a standalone file rather than part of the main package. As such, you can install just that and get the modified underwear appearance while retaining the default way the elves look otherwise.

 

(it's not exact copy of the DA2 shapes but rather sort of middle ground between DAO and DA2 models, closer to DAO if anything. If it turns out it's still too skinny, it's easy enough to remove that folder from the override, restoring the default look ;>

 

edit: same goes for the main update for this matter. each feature is in separate sub-folder so if it's only the eye modification that you'd like to keep, you can safely delete the sub-folders with other modifications.
