Well, i'm trying to retexture a sliding door, but the texture somehow ends up corrupted in the geck...

i've checked everything from the texture set to the file but i still don't get it...

here's a screenshot, maybe someone knows what's up...

well here's the door magnified, and the texture is definitely not suppose to look like that.

as for the dds, i'm using the one from this resource pack (it's in psd format so i had to convert it to DDS using photoshop)

It's the first time i'm retexturing one of those sliding doors. everything else works just fine...

May understand the problem .. the door I see in the 1st post base nif exists and refs a DDS file that is in the game, why not just use gimp to retext it, change numbers and so on. I've done this for 7-8 variants in gimp and never had the problem seeing here. I'd say the psd to dds conversion might just might be the issue so all can recommend is use gimp with the dds plugin that is available.

hm what are you using for conversion in photoshop, the nvidia dds-export filters?

be sure you haven't checked save vertically mirrored (or how that goes) or anything like that in the export dialogue.

and some dds-types produce weird results. 8 bit explicit alpha or 4 bit no alpha (depending on what you need) usually work fine

then, be sure your dds-file is exactly the same dimensions (!) as the vanilla vault-door-texture. plus, it has to be square and powers of 2. like 128*128 or 512*512, but never like 130*270

best just paste your textures in place over the vanilla texture dds

@stevie: yes, i am using the nvidia plugin :)

i'll look into copying it over the vanilla texture.

@jsnider: i have no idea how to use the .dds plugin for gimp (meaning which options to choose when saving)...

EDIT: officially tried everything, but as soon as the door even smells a custom texture, it all goes to hell...i have no idea why it wont work...

too bad the dds converter 2 stopped working on my windows 7...wish i could remember how i got it to work before...

EDIT2: i just installed dds converter on my gf's computer (she has a 32bit xp), copied the .psd file and converted it to a dds, and voila!, it worked :)

i guess that's how i'll have to do it since none of the other programs can convert the file properly without messing up my texture....

I am in the middle of doing Vault retextures atm i think your problem may just be that door try one of the other vault doors i used VDoorSliding02 replaced texture set in geck no problems.

I am sure this is not the cause of any plugin or a major issue you dont need to convert dds into psd if you have photoshop as it can open dds with the plug-in.

Also just noticed your second image you have uploaded is not the texture for the door it is one of the vquad textures

bullet, your image, if you posted the actual size here, is definitely the wrong size. it's 500*500, it _has_ to be 1024*1024 for the vault door.

and the part where it says 101 in your texture is not there in either of the vanilla vault door textures, so best delete that out or whatever.

guess that's an fo3-tex you got there, maybe they had diff. sizes back then (haven't yet been modding then, no idea)
