OBGE ain't loading

Hi, I am experiencing some trouble with OBGE. First of all I would like to say - and this is not a critique per se because I know how many hours developers have put in to these projects for the joy of many users like me - that documentation and troubleshooting is REALLY bad - the whole OBGE, but then you need OBSE and so on and so forth circus, with no documentation for these crucial overlaps of mods. This problem I am having is most likely a super simple one, but I couldn't find any solutions after more than 4 hours of searching the net. I did a search here on the forum, but didn't find the stuff i needed.

Anyways, lets get down to it. I played Oldblivion a lot on an old Macbook and on a netbook, but now i have a "proper" computer, and I want to see how much Oblivion can be sexed up. So I have installed Oblivion with tonnes of plugins and mods - please note that I did a vanilla install, unofficial oblivion patch and then the graphics mods. I installed OBGE, which works through the OBGE support plugin - i.e. I can choose from OBGE's included shaders in-game. I installed the motion blur and forward motion blur mods and I really really want them to work, but nothing happens. I added the two shaders (radialblur.fx and PostEffects.fx) manually to the shaderlist.txt because I read on a forum that I would be able to select them from the in-game menu. Didn't happen. I then read on a forum that I need to disable to OBGE Support esp, and that OBGE then would load all the shaders in the shaderlist.txt on startup. Nothing happened again. Can anybody help me as I really want this to work badly?

One more thing: I have since installed ENBseries (which also works running alongside OBGE's added effects), which should include some form of motion blur, but i don't get motion blur - just plain blur (I since edited the enbseries.ini file, so I can get more blur, but none in motion). I deactivated ENBseries because of the insane lighting making it impossible to read menu text or see what's in my inventory - I might do a search on fixing that later, but for now OBGE really is the one I want to work fully.

I use Oblivion 1.2, unofficial oblivion patch, OBSE 0020, OBGEv3, QTP3, Natural Environments, Motion Blur 1.6, Forward Motion Blur and of course Wrye Bash, Oblivion Mod Manager and BOSS - all downloaded through tesnexus yesterday, so it is the newest versions. My shaderlist.txt is as follows (it was empty by default - I have also tried each shader one by one without any effects in game):

Godrays.fx

PostEffects.fx

HLSLbleachbypass.fx

HLSLColorGrading03.fx

HLSLvignette.fx

MDLAA.fx

Volumetric_SSAO.fx

Volumetric_SSII.fx

radialblur.fx

I use an i5, 4 GB Ram, Geforce 540M 2 GB so the specs are half decent to run OBGE, I think? I am having no framerate problems with ENBseries on and a handful of basic shaders selected through the in-game OBGE menu running alongside it. Any help would be gladly appreciated - I have seen a lot of the youtube videos with the motion blur on, and for me it is what I really want because it promotes playing the game in a different and more fast-paced way (I have spent half a lifetime playing Oldblivion with a dozen different character classes, so the motion blur is really the key to rekindle my addiction:-))

Edit: Might also be important: I am on 64-bit Windows 7, which I never used before. Noticed the default folder locations are a bit different and stuff.

Oblivion runs great on Win7 64 bit - However, All win7 and Vista have UAC which will interfere with mods if you install to the default location. Deal with this before messing with OBGE or any other mods to save time and aggravation.

Best solution, uninstall and reinstall to a location that is not protected by windows UAC

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the WIKI section of the Nexus

http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Oblivion_reinstall_procedure

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.

OBGE requires OBSE as it is a OBSE plugin. OBSE must be started instead of the oblivion launcher or it will not work.

From the mod description on TesNexus

The latest official forum thread can be found at http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/forum/25-mods/ by searching for "Oblivion Graphics Extender".

Please refer to the official thread for the latest information on this project, the latest files and for any support. You are far more likely to get help for any problems you have on the thread than in the comments section of this page. Make sure to read the OP and readmes thoroughly before posting, to make sure your query has not been already answered.

Alright I will try that and get back here with the results. I know about the OBSE process, and can load OBGE just fine with the shaders included in the add-on using the in-game plugin, it is just the shaders in shaderlist.txt that wont load, along with the motion blur plugin. Everything else I have installed so far works fine, which is what puzzles me. But I'm going to try the reinstall procedure to another folder. Thanks Microsoft.

Reinstallation into C:\Games\Oblivion did absolutely nothing, save from rob my life of a few hours. Again everything works fine, except motion blur and forward motion blur. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

I have followed that link in the OBGE documentation, only to find a forum I can't search in when not a member. Guess I have to sign up to yet another forum to solve this:-(

By chance did you solved the shaders? Apart from the Motion Blur.

The standard shaders work perfectly fine through the in-game OBGE plugin (exactly like theydid in the old directory), it's just adding the new shaders (motion blur + forward motion blur) that doesn't seem to work.

So other work type (SSAO, Godrays etc. ..?) Motion Blur only gives you problems, exactly?

Yes. I got the motion blur to work on its own by playing around with it - it turns out a file from motion blur 1.5 (the second newest version) had to go into the OBSE\plugin directory. However I still can't load motion blur alongside OBGE - as soon as I install OBGEv3 Core motion blur stops working. I can't seem to add shaders manually - I used the shaderlist.txt to add the motion blur shader, and I went to the OBGE.ini to make sure the shaderlist is loaded properly. However nothing happens. And now for some reason my Godray is acting all nuts flashing and going crazy - it didn't do that before. Anyways if I want a shader to work, it has to be one of the ones included with the standalone effects package through the OBGE in-game plugin or it has to be motion blur on its own with OBGE uninstalled. Any clues?

After messing about with OBGE, getting all the V3 shaders to work, even seperate ones like liquid water, I have come to the conclusion that the motion blur only works with v2 of OBGE, despite the fact that its stated that OBGEv3 is backwards compatible. My advice? Use Crysis DoF blur. It's very pretty, if not exactly implemented in the manner wanted.

I'm gonna try and mess around with it. I like the DoF a lot too, it gives the game a nice feel when in 3rd person - and when in 3rd person motion blur messes up the character anyways, even with the subtle motion blur mod. Now I just gotta find out why OBGE won't load any of the shaders i put in the shaderlist.

And I gotta figure out ENBseries completely - I have used it before in Freelancer (I can highly recommend Freelancer Discovery for anyone into addictive games), but in both Freelancer and Oblivion the lighting goes a bit too nuts, to the point of roasting my eyes when I enter a menu or the journal. I have however seen screeshots from an ENBseries mod for New Vegas, where the lighting just looks awesome and non-insanely bright.Guess I can get somewhere by tweaking the .ini or search the forum for tweaked .ini's.
