Mods not showing up in Data files

Recommended Posts

Ok I'm using OBMM to load my mods but theres a problem, they won't show up. I've activated them and all that stuff but they're not showing up in-game. I checked the data files on my launcher, and discovered that they were not there! I've tried everything II know. The only clue is that only 2 mods work. The Unofficial Oblivion Patch and Oblivion XP. Any ideas?

Knowing what mods are not showing would help. Most of the time when I see this it is a mod that doesn't have an esp, just mesh and texture files. ONLY mods with esp parts will show up on that list. The mesh and textures are loaded, you just don't see them on the esp list that the game allows you to check or uncheck.

The next step would be to manually verify that the "missing" plugins are actually in your \Oblivion\Data Directory. Some files have a complex setup or are packed inside a folder and when you unpack them they don't follow the file structure the game looks for.

A large number of mods come with OMOD versions or are OMOD ready.

How to Create an OMOD For files that come with OMOD Conversion Data.

Also, Oblivion Mod Manager Extended includes an on-line database that contains OMOD Conversion Data for tons of mods that don't come either as OMODs or with Conversion Data.

Most mods can be converted to OMOD format and installed that way. However, this doesn't solve your current problem. You still need to go verify where the files you extracted while manually installing mods ended up. Otherwise they're just dead weight that Oblivion still scours through slowing down load up times and eventually, over the course of your modding experience, could lead to stability issues. The smaller your \Oblivion directory is the better off you are.
