The horror! CTD on startup after 500+ hours of gametime logged

Hello, and thank you in advance for any help. The deal is that for some reason my New Vegas game will no longer launch. I run the newest version of NVSE, have the newest update via Steam, and run a pile of mods. I have d/lled and installed BOSS to help me with load order, and use FNVEdit to make a merged patch with a few custom tweaks. Until just recently, the game ran quite well. I would get an occasional crash to desktop after a couple of hours, which is no big deal.

 

NOW though, the game will not even hit the main screen. I get the dreaded memory exception code 0xc0000005 in the event viewer.

 

What I have tried:

-Ensured latest graphics card drivers

-I have validated successfully, through steam, the local file integrity.

-De-activated ALL .esm, .esp, and FOMOD files except for fallout.esm itself. also tried with fallout + dlc only

-Thoroughly cleaned my Data folder of all old files from unused mods

-Re-installed all current mods (and looked for updates)

-Read several complete threads on startup failure, but nothing seems to match my circumstances

 

None of this has helped, still CTD on startup. I will post my Mod Order at the end of this message. If anyone can provide assistance I would be highly grateful, and I can give additional system information, etc., as needed.

Make sure the font files for DarnUI exist as referenced in your fallout.ini file.

Yes, I have the correct changes to in the fallout.ini of my docs and the fallout_default.ini in the game folder. The only other change i have made to these files is archiveinvalidationinvalidated via FOMM. Edited August 8, 2011 by BlackInfinity

If all else fails, you can copy your saved games in your "My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV" folder to another folder on your desktop and reinstall the game. Just paste your copied saves back into FalloutNV and you're good to go again.

Okay I uninstalled and re-installed, although I think steam game cache validation is enough on it's own, but did it anyway. No change, crashes on start with no mods loaded. This worries me because it is not a mod conflict and I have a clean install... i found this thread http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/394441-ctd-on-startup-problem-53742/page__st__20 that I haven't covered yet and will see if I can find any help in there.

Woohoo! I got it working again. Not even sure why it works now, all I changed this time was opening the graphics settings and turning on DoF. Very strange, but it works! now back to being a cannibal cowboy...
