Steam Fallout 3 GOTY Problems

Hi, I'm running fallout 3 goty off steam. I started a new game and it worked just fine at first, I got to the part where my father asked me to walk to him as a child and i saved. I kept on going to the point where I had the read the I'm s.p.e.c.i.a.l. book and exited. When I loaded I was back to before I walked to my dad, but when I did it froze. It does this every time now. I tried starting over, but now it freezes directly after i pick my gender.

I tried re installing, verifying my steam cache, and running at the lowest settings all to no avail. Just a side note, new vegas, oblivion, and morowind run fine (they are all running off the steam client as well).

I'm running windows 7, 64 bit. I have 8gig of ram, 2gb memory card, and an i5 2.3 ghz processor. So I doubt it is a hardware problem

Please help, thanks.

Sounds like a typical core problem that fallout has, if you searched it up you would've found billions of threads about the same thing. Anyway.

Open up the .ini file located in My Documents>My Games>Fallout 3.

In the FALLOUT.ini find the line

bUseThreadedAI=0

change the 0 to a 1

then below it add the line

iNumHWThreads=2
