Heretic666
Ok so I get into chemistry class with great expectations ready 2 pass my NABs feeling all kick ass cause if I passed I would get moved up a set, anyway the paper is set down and "the b**ch" as i've taken to calling the teacher starts the test, so I get all the way up 2 question 6 and do that, then its checked by the b**ch, so I lost a few marks, no big deal... right? not right, cause for the rest of the test I failed terribly (no, I know what ur thinking and im actually one of the smarter ones, lol!) in all actuality I never finished it so i have 2 miss a crucial lesson cause I need 2 re-do it!!! and if I fail that mark again then im in doing it IN MY SPARE TIME!!!!! time that could b spent modding!!! and before u complain, im not just having a rant, im just curious if anyone else was treated unjustly in the exam room >:( >:( >:(
ninja_lord666
(no, I know what ur thinking and im actually one of the smarter ones, lol!)I tend to doubt that. One look at your post says otherwise. I've never seen more spelling errors...ever! As for me, I always do great on tests. Even in subjects I don't like and/or aren't good at, I still do great on tests.
Malchik
How clever of you ninja. Did we need to share in your brilliance? Yeah, sometimes it goes pear-shaped. But, to be honest, there is little you can do. If you are okay, take the test again in the knowledge that you aren't the only one. As for giving up on the modding - erm - well - IMO that can wait. It's not going to go away while your chance of a good chemistry mark is. So PRIORITISE!
TheTerminator2004
Just out of curiosity, what are NABs? We don't have them down here in Wales...
Vagrant0
(no, I know what ur thinking and im actually one of the smarter ones, lol!)I tend to doubt that. One look at your post says otherwise. I've never seen more spelling errors...ever! As for me, I always do great on tests. Even in subjects I don't like and/or aren't good at, I still do great on tests.Chemistry isn't affected by bad spelling or grammar. Why do you think they abbreviated everything... So they don't have to spell out all the rather long and cumbersome chemical names. As for tests, stop making excuses, you failed because you didn't have the right answer. Compare your answers with others, it should clear things up. You might even want to ask to see your test so that you can compare your answers against the book to "see where you made your mistake." While I understand that not all institutions are willing to do such a thing, any school who is concerned with people learning, shouldn't object to people trying to learn from their mistakes. If the teacher refuses, and being able to look over answers is permisable by the type of test (if it's standardized) or by school policy, you may even be able to approach the Dean or Headmaster or Principal to get permission to review your answers in the name of learning (not proving anything against said teacher). If that isn't possible, you just have to crack open the book, look at not only the stuff you aren't sure on, but also the stuff you can recite verbatim. It may seem silly to re-study things you already know, but often it's the stuff we think we know that ends up causing problems. As for your spare time... Get used to it. School, work, future is more important than modding. Put your projects aside and focus on school. Once you get back into the rythem of school, study, sleep, you may find a few passing moments to spend on modding. Computer games (even if you intend to be a game designer/programmer) aren't worth ruining your life over period. School is important, you've been told it's important by so many people for so long because they actually mean it.
Vagrant0
While extreme, you do make valid points. Where I'm at now, one failed test or assignment would very likely mean losing money that I paid out of pocket to enroll, and having to wait a few years to get back into that course so that I can take it again. Failure isn't an option. This is how things are within certain fields. If you aren't serious about the work, you need to find a different line of work. Likewise, if you persue a career in chemistry, mistakes are always bad. You mix the wrong combination of chemicals, and if you're lucky, you only get killed (as opposed to killing others too, destroying property, getting maimed, and then getting fired and certification stripped). You need to learn from your mistakes while you can still make them without ruining everything else.
Heretic666
Peregrin, unless u have been living under a rock 4 the past 20 years I could get ALOT more salary from games design/programming than I ever could with chemicals, I mean look at Bill Gates he was probably one of those fat nerds that spent there entire life in the games workshop!... now he's one of the richest people alive!!!! and look at John Romero he co-founded Doom for crying out loud!!!! He was practicaly responsable for the birth of modern gaming!!!!! So I think i'll ditch the periodic table and pick up the binary code...

Marcus Wolfe
Yeah man, if you can't learn decent english grammar, how the hell are you going to learn Binary? Recite binary, now!!! If not, I will never believe you are skilled.....
ninja_lord666
Yeah man, if you can't learn decent english grammar, how the hell are you going to learn Binary? Recite binary, now!!! If not, I will never believe you are skilled.....And why would he care if you think he's skilled? Also, spelling and grammar have nothing to do with a bunch of ones and zeros. The spelling and grammar come in with the quest and dialog writing. No one would want to play a game, go up to a person and have them say, " Helo! im glad 2 meat u!" The game would flop instantly. One more thing, if you plan to go into gaming, you still need an education. You can't possibly make a game all by yourself. You'll need to join a current game company like Bethesda, EA, Capcom, etc. They'd much rather hire someone with a collage education that someone who dropped out of high school. And just so you know, games aren't made in binary.
