Ekzz Posted August 9, 2011 Share Posted August 9, 2011 Hey all Ive driven myself nutty searching for SOME way to change the stepping animation that occurs when you move the mouse to turn around. The reason ive been looking is ive replaced the vanilla idle animation and now it looks really silly as my character turns around. i cant find the idle replacer im using anywhere. anyway i'd love any idle replacer that also includes turning animations. I looked at pretty woman but i dont like the girly style of it. my characters usually end up being powerful heroins lol. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
fore Posted August 9, 2011 Share Posted August 9, 2011 That's the problem with many custom idles: they are nothing but poses, and they are not integrated at all with the other animations of the same type (walk, onehand, twohand, bow, ...), especially with the turn animations. The name of the turn animations is turnleft.kf and turnright.kf, prepended by said animation type. And there are about 30 in vanilla Oblivion. Simply finding ANY doesn't help. If the turn animation doesn't pick up where the idle is, then it will always look strange. And can onyl be fixed by changing the turns with Blender or 3dsmax. If it's just walk (no weapon), then there are a few in Natural Walk. i dont know anything about modding but i guessed the name of the turn anims were that so i simply copied the idle animation file and renamed it to turnleft and turnright, hoping that my character would simply keep that pose as she turned but it didnt change a thing. its embarrassing to admit that i honestly didnt know if it would work anyway. i downloaded the construction set but it seems to be completely beyond me to find out how to make the game use the idle pose as the turn animations. i use woman's walk or natural walk i think and the turning is ok in those but i really need to change the turning animation when you're just standing there and looking around with the mouse. Interesting. :D If you want to make a walkturnleft by using an idle you have to do 2 things:- Rename the file from idle.kf to walkturnleft.kf (which you did)- With NifSkop change the animation type in the "0 NiControllerSequence" from "idle" to "turnleft" (which you DID NOT) So now your walkturnleft.kf is invalid, which means you don't have any animation for walkturnleft. So your character will freeze in whatever position as soon you start to turn, and as long as you make her turn. Its much MUCH better than before. I can actually play the game comfortably now. yeah she freezes in place whenever you turn but it doesnt change the turning anim when she walks. no more 3 frame snapping to position anyway. except when you start walking >_> I hope they fix the ugliness of oblivion in skyrim so that we dont have to go through all this!
