ScottishViking
Hey everyone, I'm relatively new to Fallout 3, but am a long-time Oblivion player. I've played through most of F3 (not NV), and am now setting out to mod the hell out of the game. I've been perusing the sites, looking at "essential" mod lists. I know that every mod is up to user preference, but I like to start with the "consensus" mods and then move from there. Here's a couple of sites with "Top Recommendations." I'm wondering if anyone can add to, or refute the recommendations here, since I'm likely to start with them: PC Gamer: http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/13/10-essential-fallout-3-mods/ Gamefront: http://www.gamefront.com/gamefront-2010-essential-fallout-3-mods/ The only thing I'm NOT seeing, and maybe this is just because I'm not as used to the game yet as everyone else, is "expanded world" mods, and a "living economy" type mod (as in Oblivion): essentially, new or expanded locations or zones, and economy mods. Does anything like this exist?
new2es
I like the PC gamer recommended list more. I tried FWE but I think I like FOOK2 more. I'm using FOOK2 with WMK (huge weapons mod), enhanced weather, and Mart's Mutant Mod. Game is stable but took me at least six hours to install them all. Had to turn of ATI's "Catalyst AI" because that caused crashes. Also highly recommend you use the Fallout Stutter Remover and configure it for 60 FPS. YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID! I'm using Darnified UI also. Remember that the newest FOOK2 includes Fellout, Energy Visuals Enhanced (not sure about weapons enhanced) and some other nice stuff. Here's my mod list: [X] Fallout3.esm[X] Anchorage.esm[X] ThePitt.esm[X] BrokenSteel.esm[X] PointLookout.esm[X] Zeta.esm[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm[X] CALIBR.esm[X] FOOK2 - Main.ESM[X] FOOK2 - [DIK] DLC Improvement Kit.ESM[X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esm[X] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.esm[X] DCInteriors_ComboEdition.esm[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather.esm[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Operation Anchorage.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - The Pitt.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Point Lookout.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Mothership Zeta.esp[X] DarNifiedUIF3.esp[X] no blur on hit.esp[X] Automated FOV.esp[X] DCInteriors_DLC_Collectables.esp[X] megalight.esp[X] YevicsUrbanTownhome.esp[X] 100REPTraders.esp[X] FOOK2 - Main.esp[X] FOOK2 - [DIK] DLC Improvement Kit.esp[X] FOOK2 - Main [Hotfix].esp[X] FOOK2 - DIK [Hotfix].esp[X] WeaponModKits.esp[X] WeaponModKits - OperationAnchorage.esp[X] WeaponModKits - ThePitt.esp[X] WeaponModKits - BrokenSteel.esp[X] WeaponModKits - PointLookout.esp[X] WeaponModKits - Zeta.esp[X] WeaponModKits - FOOK.esp[X] WMKAA12Shotgun.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp[ ] Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp[X] MMM, FOOK2.esp[X] MMM, FOOK2 - DIK.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow in Fallout.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp[X] Enhanced Weather - REBOOT.esp[X] Realistic Interior Lighting.esp[X] Realistic Interior Lighting - BS.esp[X] Realistic Interior Lighting - OA.esp[X] Realistic Interior Lighting - PL.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Main.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Anchorage.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - The Pitt.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Broken Steel.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Point Lookout.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Rain.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Dynamic Sneak Bonus.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Green Tint Remover.esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Weather Machine (+Rain).esp[X] Xepha's Dynamic Weather - Sandstorm.esp[X] mergedpatch.fook2.mmm.wmk.weather.uf3p.dcinteriors3.esp What doesn't show here is that I got a FOOK2 patch for the "WeaponModKits" files that overwrote the original WeaponModKits files. Also I'm using NMC's texture pack, performance version. Modding the game is a metagame in and of itself. Actually rather fun to do!
