I been working on a remake of the ncr prison for some time now due to my real life drama with the legal system I haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to hunting things out i have spent hours watching youtube videos and geck website tutorials and have not found the answer as to why my npc's after i travel away and return no longer walk their patrol paths instead begin to glitch jump around help with this would be a god send I'm at the point of just saying f*** it and quitting altogether over something that has just aggravated the s*** out of me if you can help me please give me 10 mins of your time so i can get the npc part done and get to releasing my mod

Thanks in advance

Are the NPC's jumping around in areas where you created the navmesh, or are they walking in vanilla areas? If this is your navmesh, this is a very common problem. Finalize the navmesh and then convert the file to esm.

Oh sweet sorry was takeing screen shots this is a new navmesh i placed where the old prison buildings used to be the npc's work fine until i leave and come back how do i turn my file into an esm thank you so much i been at this for a long time

okay i made it into a esm file but now when i arrive to the compound all the stuff i cleaned up is now back where it was originaly includeing the buildings i destroyed i loaded the esm into the geck to make a new esp save everything looks proper how i made it but when i save it and load it into game it still throws all the original s*** back into the cells around the ncr compound makeing my work pointless

anything i can do from this step i can't even test to see if the esm fixed the glitching

thanks again for your effort most help i have gotten since i started this mod

peace

Converting between an esp and esm is easy, but as with any modding, you need to make sure not to overwrite any new files with old ones. Unfortunately geck does not allow you to edit esm files. What I usually do is work on the esp file say "foo.esp" until it gets to a point I want to test it; use file explorer to copy the file to "foo.esm"; use fnvedit to change the master bit in "foo.esm"; and then test foo.esm in game. When I am done testing, I delete the esm file and continue editing the esp file in geck. It's unfortunate that the game has this severe bug with handling navmesh in esp, and the workaround takes a little time; but there is no reason that any data should be lost.

BTW, I am not sure if you have posted other questions to this forum. I checked your previous posts and they are all into the endorsements threads of mods, or uploaded images.

my bad i thought i mailed you an update of what had gotten done i made the file into an esm with fnvedit and got it working everything is fine now my problem at the moment is i thought i had a backup of my esp and the one i have is a old one so now i took the only recent esp and turned it into an esm so from what i been reading theirs not any way to revert it back to an esp ? if not no big deal i can make up the lost work sorry haven't slept just got done cutting lawn so kind of out of it at the moment

peace

I see just rename the file itself to a .esp then just open in the geck

i made some small changes and saved unfortunately it still goes back to being a esm file after the first save but at least i can make changes now thanks to you. The old file the tester sent me was way back when apparently and would be far to much work to try and restore it to what i have done to date so as long as you say theirs no negative effects i will just continue to change the esm file back esp and save it each time as this seems to be my only option now it won't stay esp

Anyways this mod means a lot to me something positive i can say i have done for the community of gamers that have allowed me to download so much in the past few years i just like to have something I made out their that makes someone enjoy themselves and get away from this world we live in

Peace
