normvez
So about last week I had a major problem with my copy of Oblivion, lockups, no music, etc. Just before I reformatted my pc, I found out LO AND BEHOLD my Mpeg 2 audio decoder was missing... yeah. So I reinstalled it and blammo, everything's fine. Man I felt stupid! SO fast forward to today-ish. Aside from the occasional CTD (which isn't really an inconvenience as they're happening less and less) everything's peachy, she works great EXCEPT... loading. I mean it loads fine in the main menu, click, load, boom, I'm playing. But whenever I load while in game (I die, quickload, wanna go back to before I killed the whole town cause some guy called me a snowman) it takes FOREVER!! I mean about a good 5-10 minutes, if it loads at all. This only happens to my saves later in the game, after about the 12 hour mark, when I really start dungeon crawling for game-days on end. I'm pretty sure that it's related to bloating cause my saves at that point are reaching the 20-30 MB mark. So I run Bash's bloat remover, and it's fixed until I save again. Then I'm right back to the big overweight saves and long loads in game. Does anyone else have a really long load time when their saves get this big? Mind you I'm running OOO, MMM, MOU, HarvestFlora, some MOE plugins ,AWS, WeatherInside, Natural Interiors, Deadly Reflex, RenCorpse, Clocks of Cyrodiil, Persuasion Overhaul, Roleplaying Dialogs, Toaster, No psychic guards, and every freakin UL mod, along with other ones who's names I can't remember or see bloating my game up. As you can see, Vanilla is not my favorite flavor, I like crazy Neapolitan-on-crack flavor. (Gee... no wonder they're so fat!!) I don't want to disable any of these mods unless I absolutely have to, does anyone know if these mods cause bloating? Like big-fat-pregnant-lady bloating? Thanks in advance guys. RedRocketTM
Phew, not bad. ;) I'm using about 125 mods. (Sunlit interiors, Natural Weather and some other mods that alter the environments and make the graphics look a lot better) With my list of mods I do have a loading time between 30 sec's and 1,5min's. Depends on what district I want to enter. Interiors mostly work faster than extariors, especially user made exteriors. Title screen loads up within 5 seconds each time, and my savegames aren't even half the big yours are. I don't really know where your problem should come from, definitely it doesn't sound as if it was normal. What about your comps stats? Mine: Intel Core2Duo T5600 @ 1,8Ghz1024MB DDR² Ram (Corsair)512MB DDR³ ATi mobility Radeon X1600OS: Windows XP Professional (SP 2)Graphics (OB): Very high (Bloom, 4x AA, Distant sliders all on max. Water reflections and shadows of leaves and trees and so on enabled, shadowdetail high)Everything works fine for me.(The rest doesn't matter I guess ^^)
Sativarg
Make sure you have the latest versions of all your mods. Most of the updated mods have solved the bloating issues. Be sure to use the latest patch for oblivion. If this does not work make a copy of the saves you want to protect and start disabling about half of your mods at a time starting with the oldest. test each time with the unbloated save - save check bloat.... you will find the culprit in the last group you disabled.
