2 Problems - 3D Mark & old Creative Soundcard

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I would appreciate any help on the following 2 problems;

1) 3D MARK

I have had to download 3D Mark - because the person who built my PC stole my disk - however, when I run the program a popup notifies me that,

"DirectX 11 Compatible hardware is required"

My OS ...............................................I'm running Windows 7 64 bit

My graphics card...............................Nvidia 250 gts (with compatible 280 drivers)

Motherboard......................................ASUS Rampage Gene II

RAM..................................................6 gigs DDR3

Processor......................................... Core i7 950

I am at a loss to understand how the 3D MARK disc came with either the graphics card or motherboard - I can't remember which one - when I bought the

hardware and now it won't run.

I would really love to run a benchmark.

Directly after the popup from 3D MARK appears, it takes me to a screen that talks about upgrading my 3D Mark, so I kind of feel that it's a marketing ploy

and not a real problem, nevertheless, it still doesn't work marketing ploy or not.

I do have FRAPS, the full purchased version but it isn't quite the same isn't it - for benchmarking the way 3D MARK would do it.

2) Creative Live 5.1 Soundblaster

Recently I tried to install my old sound-card and downloaded drivers galore after it wouldn't work, the error message I got from Windows

went something like this "... hardware before Windows 95 will not work ..." or something to that effect.

I have my 5.1 speakers and sub connected into the graphics card and use it's sound capabilities but I just don't think it's the same as a card

designed speciffically for sound and so I have been told.

I am planning on buying the EVGA GTX 560 Ti Maximum Graphics Edition sometime soon, I dont have a hassle with buying the EVGA GTX 590

but I'm sure that's overkill and why spend money on something that only a few games might need, ok, so Skyrim will be one of them but it's

still overkill to me.

As intelligent as I might sound - though I doubt it - this is the limit of my knowledge to all the above.

Any help in really simple English will be appreciated .... cheers.

If you are currently using 3D mark11, then this is designed for DirectX 11 graphic card,,and you must use 3DMarkVantage instead for your current graphic card(DirectX10 graphic card). 3D mark11 currently ONLY supporting for DirectX11 graphic card (AMD Radeon HD 5xxx / HD 6xxx series, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 4xx / 5xx series or later)...for old DirectX 9 cards, should using 3DMark 06...

for the second problem maybe you need download drivers and get knowledge base here..

Thanks for the advice, I'm downloading 3D Mark 06 as we speak, as for the drivers for my old sound card, as I've said I've gone directly to Creative and downloaded what I could.

But I will follow up on the link you've provided.

Much appreciate your help.
