Shotokanguy
I've played about 12 hours into this game without any FPS drops anywhere close to this bad. It really is unplayable. I have no idea what's causing it, but some things to note are that I'm using Mart's Mutant Mod, and I'm seeing fireflies and Night Ghouls for the first time (and there's a lot of Night Ghouls, good Lord). I can't really think of any other catalyst other than those. As I said, it started just now. Another thing is that the game seems pretty much normal when I first start the game up, but any reloading after that just turns it into complete crap. I'm loading from a quicksave though, maybe if I try an autosave from a few minutes ago I can reset everything or...something?
yodaman123
The mod includes an increased spawn esp I believe. Maybe there are too many npc's that your machine can handle. I also believe there is a menu for the mutant mod in the Aid section of your Pip Boy. You can probably decrease the spawns from there. The mod takes about 4 in game days to work fully I think, so thats probably why it just started all of a sudden. Hope this helps
bloodfromastone
Do you have a video card with >512MB RAM? If not, get Afterburner, and check out the RAM use in its OSD while playing. MMM and 'large' textures can be enough to go over 512MB, especially at night. If you are trying to use more RAM than you GPU has direct access to, that can greatly slow things down. If it is a very weak GPU (Intel IGP, Geforce 8400, etc.), all the added geometry and effects could be bogging it down. What do you have for CPU and RAM? It could be too much on the CPU side, as well. As a shot in the dark, maybe trybSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=1 in fallout.ini. It's one of those many things that usually is of no use, but can occasionally be a godsend, for no apparently good reason.
Shotokanguy
I actually got by the problem, I loaded a slightly earlier save and went a different route. I'm not sure if I'll run into the problem again or not, but I don't think it would be my video card...it's a GTX 550 Ti.
