A little problem.Help needed.

Recommended Posts

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit,on a HP laptop. It says i have 4GB ram.But when i open System Information it says only 2.75 is used. Now i was searching for an answer on forums and it said 64 bit uses all ram automatically. It also said that i can enable Memory Remapping in BIOS,but i don't have that option in BIOS.So is there a way to USE ALL OF THE RAM?I hope someone can give me the answer, cause i have some games that lag because of this.Mostly Oblivion and Unreal Tournament 3.Also sorry if i posted in the wrong category.

afaik, BIOS laptop has a lack of feature like advanced configuration to set I/O memory mapping, Just make sure your total memory = total installed memory, you can use Resource monitor to check this...In order to run resource monitor just click Start-> All Programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> Resource Monitor....You might also check in boot option, just start task manager then click -> file ->RUN type 'msconfig' it will show you msconfig window, click boot tab then advanced options, make sure 'maximum memory' is unchecked...

if you are using 4GB on 64bit OS, the memory total usually 3.25 or 3.75,,because system will take 256MB (or more depends on your BIOS setting) of total memory for onboard graphics...as i know many laptops using onboard GPU....
