One handed weapons on back

Hello, I know there are tons of mods that do that, but I don't want to ask the people who download my mods to get another mod just so they can use mine. I made a hasta for my Roman mod and want it to be a one handed weapon which goes to the back when sheathed. Before anyone says it, yes I set it to back weapon on blender/nifskope and set to one handed blade on oblivion cs, but that just 'causes the weapon to stay on my back and the character grab an invisible sword from his side. Now I've seen discussions on this topic that went without an answer. I'm wondering if anyone out there has figured out how to do this.

Thank you

Get one of the mods that includes the animation for weapon unsheathing you'd like to have. Then copy over the correct .kf animation to your mod. Make sure you get permission from the author before uploading it.

Probably the "easiest" way to do it is the way animation overhauls like UV do it: suspend Oblivion combat system and make all combat moves based on idle animations.

If you want to integrate this in regular 1Hand combat animations you have to do 2 things:

  • Make equip and unequip animations for the one hand back weapon. Probably you can do that by mixing animation data from 1Hand and 2Hand.
  • Bring the side weapon node on the skeleton in the desired back weapon position. This can be done by
    • temporarily exchanging the skeleton
    • an animation which moves the side weapon bone into this position (theoretically, cause I have never seen an animation doing that)

The skeleton exchange solution is probably the only solution anyway, since I recently have learned that combat animations (like equip unequip) are played unreliably when put into the specialanims folder.
