Fallout 3 crashes when mods are put on.

So I recently got fallout 3 goty edition on steam and after playing a bit I wanted to add some mods. I haven't done this before with games but I found some guides online, downloaded the manager, etc. but when I try to start steam with the mods activated, it crashes almost immediately, although sometimes i catch a glimpse of the startup animation. I'm not too good with computers but I read somewhere that the Event Viewer can help see the problem. It is an Application Error and here is some of the property code if it means anything.

Faulting application name: Fallout3.exe, version: 1.7.0.3, time stamp: 0x4a40f18b

Faulting module name: Fallout3.exe, version: 1.7.0.3, time stamp: 0x4a40f18b

Exception code: 0xc0000005

Fault offset: 0x001aee0c

Faulting process id: 0x1b40

Faulting application start time: 0x01cc5c8ee75699ac

Faulting application path: C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty\Fallout3.exe

Faulting module path: C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty\Fallout3.exe

Report Id: 28d11358-c882-11e0-be20-0024e8832a0f

Can anyone help translate? Is there other info I need?

Edit: I went back to attempt to play without mods and I do believe I have another error. I could play normally before, but apparently not now and I don't know why. I'm pretty exasperated at the moment. This time its an Application Hung 1002 error.

The program Fallout3.exe version 1.7.0.3 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Process ID: 18a8

Start Time: 01cc5c97b6b11e2e

Termination Time: 56

Application Path: C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty\Fallout3.exe

I would appreciate help in fixing whatever the heck I did to mess it up.

I don't have a true answer for you, but I can tell you one thing. All that information is useless to determine what is wrong. The only thing it really says is "Fallout crashed with an error box, and it's the Steam version"

Hmm, that's lame. Mebbe I'll just reinstall the whole game. At least it'll work then...
