HOW TO - Completely recover a dead Companion

Don't we all know that? You're in the Middle of a Firefight and got seperated from your Companion. You finish off your Enemy with a well-placed Shot while looking cool, reload, holster the Gun away and hit Save - only 3 Secs afterwards, you get the Message your Companion didn't win his Battle, he died instead. Well, F*ck.

 

Allright, don't panic. Just gotta have to reload the last Save and... suddenly you realize, the 'last' Save is from 2 Days ago. And you just have replaced the Quicksave. Probably you'll start swearing right now, wondering why you were too lazy to get the All Companions Essential Mod yet in Anger. Won't be of Help right now, though. So, your Companion's gone, and he's gone eternally - if you don't go back and repeat everything you were doing the last 2 Days.

 

Being a lazy Person like you are [you didn't save your Game in other Files than the Quicksave, did ya.], you probably don't like the Thought and searched for other Ways to get outta your Dilemma and stumbled upon this Topic in our favorite Fallout Forum. And well, if you didn't, maybe you should just keep in Mind there are others who probably will, and be thankful they did. Maybe, you already know what to do and expect others to know the same - whereas they don't think of it.

 

 

 

But now, here it goes,

 

HOW TO COMPLETELY RECOVER A DEAD COMPANION

1) Open the Console [Hit the ~ or the ^ Key], type "player.moveto <CompanionID>" - look this one up to get to the Site of Crime.

2) LOOT him / her / it. You wanna keep the Stuff your Companion's holding / using, right?

3) Now it gets classic: Open the Console again and click at your dead Buddy - type "resurrect", hit Return, close the Console.

 

"Oh, but Uncle Flamey, that won't restore the Functionality of my Companion...!"

 

4) I know, thus is why you will now talk to him, fire & hire him again when he starts to walk off. This will re-trigger him.

5) Hand over the Stuff he was carrying again.

 

 

 

Some Companions require a certain Amount of Karma, for my Buddy RL-3 you need to be neutral.

If you're Jesus, you have to enter "rewardkarma -1000" into the Console, because 1000 seems to be the Max.

If you are evil instead, you'll have to reward positive Karma, "rewardkarma 1000" would be from evil Supervillain to neutral I guess.

So, get your Companion back and then, undo the Karma-Change by simply inverting the Amount you rewarded yourself earlier.

 

 

 

Long Story cut short...

Basically, when RL-3 dies, it's like this:

- player.moveto 94285

- *Loot RL-3, then open Console again and click at him*

- resurrect

- rewardkarma -1000

- *Talk to him, fire*

- *Talk to him, hire*

- rewardkarma 1000

- *Throw Stuff back into his Face to hold*

- *Activate All Companions Essential* <- Optional.

 

... and there ya go!

 

 

 

Well obviously, it won't work for every Companion out there, since there are some you get through a Quest I guess. You'd have to restart the Quest in Order to get him/her back as Companion. It should work with the Console again, you'd just have to look up restart Quest and the correct Quest ID. But be prepared for some Problems it may cause, I didn't look into the Matter deeper yet. Plus I don't recomment doing that, maybe in this Case you'll better decide to just redo what you did the last 2 Days.
