Sons of Guns/Red Jacket Firearms

Who else here watches Sons of Guns on Discovery channel? For those who don't know the show, it's a show in the same structural vein as American Choppers and Pawn Stars. The shop (Red Jacket Firearms- Baton Rouge, LA) specializes in modifying Sega automatic shotguns and Ak 47's but are a full service gunsmith shop. Part of the appeal of the show are the weekly "big job" challenges that come in or that the boss comes up with. quad mounted MG 42s, tri linked M16s, pirate discouraging rocket launchers, suppressed shotgun. There's two seasons so far. They have had great success with suppressing guns and silencing them, including an automatic grenade launcher this past week. If anyone is interested in the idea of creating a Red Jacket weapons Mod please please do it. Some of the weapons in the mod could be the integrally suppressed aks and any of their weapons that have been modified, they have done a modernized Tommy gun with tactical mounts for the baton rouge police department. Frankly with as much gear they seem to sell to the Baton Rouge police and sheriff i would suggest against breaking the law there. One of the really fun ideas for this mod would include some of their experimental weapons systems, like the tri linked M16s, the water cooled fully automatic dual M16s, they are both mounted on tripods or vehicle mounts but with Fallout big guns th would just be a backpack weapon like the mini-gun or the grenade machine gun. And those are just the ones that i can think of off the top of my head. There was a guy that came in with a 1919 machine gun that wanted it cut down and turned into a shoulder mounted weapon, they did it. and just recently they did a motorcycle themed 1919 where they chromed the thing and fired it with motorcycle handle bars with a dragon painted on the side. And one gun that actually gave me the idea for this mod, an Ak with a sniper rifle barrel, so they had a 1000 yard Ak. reliability, distance, and accuracy.

 

I know that was rambling but i'm trying to freakin sell the idea. Now i don't know if you would have to clear it with discovery channel or not, probably not since mods aren't sold, but it might be a good idea to contact Red Jacket. For technical specs and proper dimensions. Just make sure they know they won't make any money off a mod. But hey i would love to see some kind of mercenary shooter that uses Red Jacket for their weapons purchasing shop. They do sell to police organizations and private security as well as soldiers that like to buy their own guns.

Hey there. I actually like Sons of Guns quite a lot and would like to see some of the guns on there ported into New Vegas. But you're going to run into problems with like the twin-linked M16s and the Quad-mounted MG42s, it's going to difficult carrying something like those around in a wasteland environment and the recoil is going to killer if you're shooting it like a minigun.

yeah, but that's where a back mounted system would come in, maybe requiring the aid of power armor. of course the quad mg 42s are just impractical all the way around as a portable unit. you could have a unique semi auto mg 42 called "flem's gun". a lot of their big stuff needs to be mounted on something, there are no turrets in fallout, except the robotic ones, no gun emplacements. maybe a select fire 40mm grenade launcher that works at the speed of the 25mm but is based off the suppressed/silenced 40mm MK19 grenade launcher from last weeks show. the grenade machine gun is based off a real gun, just saw it on wikipedia, very similar to the one in the game. XM307 Advanced Crew Served Weapon. modify the design to work with a backpack.

 

Granted the tri links m16s are a little awkward to wield with out a mount, where do you hold its, it could be a cobbled together poor mans minigun,mount the water cooled version or the tri linked in a rig of scrap, make it look all fallout aesthetics.

 

maybe a redjacket fatboy would be cool, though there was already the MIRV from FO3 which was like something they would do.

 

honestly i miss the vehicles from tactics, mount this stuff on the roof of the hummer. hehe.

 

Also one thing that i realized i left out of the original post. Make damn sure when you create the mod use the CORRECT caliber ammo for the weapons, none of this fallout, whatever ammo you feel like using, the m16 uses 5.56, the ak uses 7.62, any kinda of P90 looking thing uses 5.7X28mm, (yay wikipedia data box outs) with a 50 round mag. i mean i know you got to work with what you got and you can excuse it with parallel fiction world but if you are going to use real world guns, use the caliber x thing or whatever works. an none of that hk p90 from fallout 2, was that a gun nut joke or something or was it a legal concern. i say please use correct ammo, because otherwise if they find out you made something with their name and screwed up the caliber of ammo, they wont let you live it down.

I live near there shop and would be willing to talk to them about getting anything from ideas from the makers too voice acting for in game npc maby. Who knows maby we can make it on the show if we make something that really pleases them.

new idea, put their shop somewhere with an open area out back with some cars to blow up that reset after a set time or just a button push, as well as a target range . the exploding cars are good to replicate the last 10 minutes of the show when they blow sh*t up.
