Anything I should know?

Hey, just picked up New Vegas. I modded Oblivion and Fallout 3 extensively and while I don't plan on going crazy on New Vegas I still wanted to touch base and see if anything has changed. My main question is what are the mods I MUST have installed to prep for other modding? Im assuming Fallout Mod Manager, Fallout Script Extender (whatever its called now), Archive Invalidation Invalidated most likely (if its still around). Is there anything else that I missed?

Oh, one more thing... I purchased the game for windows so im assuming its windows live garbage. I plan on patching it and purchasing all of the DLC when I install it so if its like fallout 3 the DLC is gonna go into some "hidden folder" somewhere. There used to be a program to download that would move that content out of the original folder and into the fallout directory, is that still around or better yet where do i find the DLC and how do I move it myself to make sure its in the proper place?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

Wrye Flash

I HIGHLY recommend learning to use bash installers to install and manage your files. It will save you so many headachs.

Also includes:

Gamesave\profile manager

Loadorder manager

Installers < like fomods but way better

Conflict detection

and the famous bashed patch creator

FNVEdit

Wont need this right away or maybe never but thought I would mention it anyway. Its used for detecting conflicts between plugins, editing plugins, and a number of other very useful features.

New Vegas Script Extender

You know what this is for :)

Fallout Mod Manager

Includes archive invalidation under Tools > Archive Invalidation

Fantastic, thanks for the fast replies.

Just one more question. I remember steam being fairly trashy for Oblivion, some people like it but my issue with steam and Oblivion was that when my game was modded steam would bug out and I would HAVE to play my offline Oblivion game online (which is pretty damn crummy). Has this changed or will I have to play my midded New Vegas with an internet connection also?

And thanks again for helping out I can't wait to get everything set up.

Its been a while but i remember there being an edit program/mod that created a special "patch" that went into fallout 3 at the end of all other patches to help prevent crashes. Was this fallout edit or FOEdit? Do i need to look for something to create a patch like this for Fallout NV? Thank you.

Ok it looks like the Fallout NV Edit is what im thinking of. The Author didn't give any instructions what-so-ever though on the main page of this mod. I assume you just toss it in the FONV directory and run it to organize the mods. What do i need to do to make a special patch at the end of my mods? Is that even needed for FONV?
