Frankenfran
I just got New Vegas and installed it on my pc. I have a voodoo firebird with windows 7, 4 gig ram, 2.77 quad core processor, 2 geforce nvidia 9800's w/sli etc. I installed the game on C/games/steam rather than program files 86. The game started normally and played the intro video and let me create my toon then when i try to zone out of the first door it seems to freeze up at loading and I have to open task manager to exit the game. Any suggestions? I tried lowering graphics to super low and even reesetting the defaults on controls and key layouts. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have actually come to expect a huge headache everytime i purchase a Bethesda game, but i image New Vegas is worth it so ill be patient. =)
bben46
Out of the first door? I assume you mean the exit from the Drs house. The graphics requirements make a big jump there - limited interior views to massive outdoor & distant views. Have you installed any mods?
Frankenfran
No i haven't even downloaded mod manager yet, I was still trying to get the first install of the game to work. I did purchase the DLC from steam however. I was wondering if steam patched the game or not. What version should I be running to make sure? Frankenfran
Ugh, I tried to reinstall the game to see if that helps and steam is saying that I am trying to install it on a different PC so it wants a special code that is emailed to me. So i get the code and put it in and now its saying that steam servers aren't responding. I really didn't feel like playing cloak and dagger for a week in order to play this game. I am about to conclude that steam like windows live is garbage and that PC games are just not worth the headache anymore. Its kinda sad really. Oh well, serves me right for not getting it on X-Box heh.
