luidias
I've been wrestling new vegas for the past week, trying to fix glitches. I finally managed to do so today. for about 15 minutes. I'd been playing normally, happy with the fact I'd managed to fix all my conflicting mods. Suddenly, I'm being attacked by some raiders. I go into v.a.t.s, and... nothing. v.a.t.s. just sat there doing nothing. The game wasn't frozen, I could still highlight body parts, but I couldn't click on them for my guy to shoot at. I exited out of v.a.t.s, and found out I could not click on any of the menu buttons in the pause menu or the pip-boy, and couldn't select anything in v.a.t.s. I could still shoot and play the game normally. It was as if my left mouse button was broken, except when in game (i.e not in any kind of menu). I alt+f4'd out, and after some frustrated investigation, I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I checked for any left over mod conflicts, restarted my comp, tried a different mouse to make sure it wasn't a hardware problem... nothing. I assume it's a menu problem(as in, something's screwed up in new vegas\data\menu directory), since I've been recently messing around with MCM and some interface mods. However, I have no idea what any of those files do, so I can't go in there and look for a problem myself. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions before I try a reinstall of the whole game and mods. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. Dan3345
Try checking on your menu's folder, if you have any mods like darnified ui or asukahud, or MCM, or even Project Nevada these can be installed incorrectly and the missing menu files can cause crashing, and menu's to not work. luidias
I re-installed all of my hud mods, plus project nevada, still no luck. on a side note, I forgot to mention earlier, that as soon as this problem started, one of the game's sound files started playing on the loading screen. It's one of the game's electrical sounds. not sure if it matters, but it started happening at the same time as this glitch. EDIT: I went into the menu folder, but I had no idea what to do. What should I be looking for? what kind of things would indicate a bad install of a mod? Edited August 22, 2011 by luidias
