CommodoreBlitz
I have built a new building, and the problem I have is that when in game, as I walk towards it, it only "pops up" about 100 yards(that's a guess) from it...now I am using max graphic settings on my amd phenom ii x4with 6 gb of ram and a ati 4850 1gb, my screen is set to 1600x1200...also near my new building when in game there seems to be a lot of lag...(not too bad as I was able to fight off 2 enemies ok, but I'd say a drop of perhaps 5 fps and sometimes a little jerking if I moved the camera too fast).is there a way to perhaps fix it somehow so who ever plays it won't have theses same problems.? I used only the items build into the Geck NV to build it. I don't remember such problem when walking around DC in Fallout 3 when I was near large buildings. Oh and my system uses Xp 64-bit if that matters. oh, I just remembered as I walk away it does not suddenly disappear but it does piece by piece disappear.... Sunnie
Sounds like you don't have appropriate LOD for the building.
CommodoreBlitz
LOD, hmm does it mean Line of D----Sight??/? I have never set that before but this is my largest building I have ever made(If I find the time the inside will have over 10 floors)
Sunnie
Level Of Detail. It tells the game engine which version of detail to render depending on how the player is away from the object. Make sure that your static object in the GECK has the "Visible when distant" box checked.
avianrave
There was an LOD essentials pack on the nexus, but it looks like the file is under moderation.
CommodoreBlitz
this LOD setting, does it have to be set for ever object? as my building is made up of I would guess about 200+ items
Sunnie
You made an external building out of that many pieces? Um, wow. Ya, you would need to make sure all of the pieces have that flag set. That many separate objects in such a small area might also tend to make ones PC lag around it, which is probably why you are getting a lot of lag when near it. Jagermh
Try using this LOD file generator TES 4 LOD gen GLHF
CommodoreBlitz
I would guess its 200 pieces, and this is one of around 4 or 5 buildings in the mod, tho I would say this is the largest tho I am far from finished. Tho to tell you I recently found a larger building item that if I new it was in the list of parts to pick from would have made it easier, I wish there was a guide to the Gecks objects with a txt and picture for each item, I just type a word and hope I find the right piece. like the word Cor for a corner piece works but it would be nice if there was a Wiki or something with pics of each item for easier look up. As to that TEsLOD file how do you get that to work with the GECk as doesn't that version load the Oblivion files not the FalloutNV files?

There isn't a fallout equivalent. Edited September 5, 2011 by Jagermh
