LOS (or is that LOD) problems with new building

So can you walk me thru changing the LOD (tho I am not sure I want to click on every piece, but perhaps the largest ones might help the lag and the pop up if I change the LOD) I click on a piece but I don't see anything that says LOD,(I am clicking on it withing the View...edit window), (I had my game set to Ultra, I changed it to med settings and 800x600 but still lots of lag near the base of the building, tho I was ambushed by a npc and still took care of it so even tho I 'd say it was under 20 fps it was playable it gets better as you move away from the building).

I wish I new about the LOD before I started my mod(I mean I have do known of LOD before but only as far as setting it in my graphics settings for playing not as far as making a mod) (tho this is my largest thing in my mod it is not the only one I have made in it......) Is there a limit to the number of objects in an internal or external area or is it just limited to what makes it unplayable(such as amount of lag?) I am trying to make the internal part of it real meaning to the same scale as the outside... or at lest make it feel that big... (I've counted the floors outside....I think to make it perfectly the same size as the external building would take a long time has a lot of floors, but I am trying.....)

I think your lag problem may be related to the fact you have so many meshes. TBH with something that size I think you might be better off taking a screenie of your building and providing a list of all the pieces you used to make it and then posting a request for someone to create an optimised new mesh for you (by deleting all the faces that you don't see). This would be a huge task for a 200 piece building though, so I think you'd have to make it clear what your end goal is or no-one will want to put the time in.

The biggest problem with LOD in the wasteland worldspace is that you can not rebuild it. So you will always have some issue with non-vanilla placed objects popping into view at a certain range, unless you make new worldspace to put your objects in.

Most of the huge lag problems you are having has to do with the huge number of pieces you made these buildings out of in such a small area. I mentioned this earlier in the thread but it's obvious you missed it. The other thing that I noted above that you missed was the setting on the static objects for "Visible when distant". If the objects you used for these building you made do not have that flag set, they will not render until you get somewhat close (which still doesn't solve the worldspace LOD limitation).

Because of the size and complexity, you really should be using simplified building exteriors that have fewer faces, and using an interior cell for the inside, otherwise you are going to create a mod that will most certainly cause your intended audience a lot of issues and frustration.

well, it sounds like for now that there is nothing that can be done without a complete rebuild, I've been testing it tho and it is fully playable as I tested it with a new game and tho there is lag, for the purposes of seeing the buildings outside, long enough to see it then enter it it will have to do. best I can tell there are only about 4 npc (human or other wise) nearby so there should not be a fight to large that could cause lag to get to the point where its unplayable.(depending on your machine's stats of course..I have a Amd Phenom 4x, 6 gb ram) (lets not forget I have the game set to Ultra graphics and 1600x1200 screen size so the avg player perhaps using say 1024x768 might not have any lag, I should try it set to the lowest settings and see how it plays)

A full rebuild will have to wait till I get some other things done. By the way I already built a larger building just as a test (trying to see what could kill the game) and its at lest 300 or more pieces (I did not count, so not really sure how many) tho there made of smaller pieces then the first building...the lag is at lest twice that of the first tho when near/inside it but if you move about 50(game feet) feet away it gets much better. I am trying to make the buildings as real as possible (hard tho as I haven't done any thing yet as far as making my own textures or objects) place a working tv I can't just have it sit there and work I connect it to a power source(tho that's just an example)

Just wondering anyone know what the largest (file size) Fallout mod is? my esp just hit 1meg. I know the original game is over 200meg. But as far as mods go anyone know what the largest one is? (just the esp file I mean not counting external files like videos or audio files that might be part of the mod)
