Frankenfran
Ok guys i need some good feedback here. I know i ask a lot of questions but this is serious. Do you have any cheese doodles? J/K Are texture replacers good or bad? I KNOW thats a tough question to answer because its a matter of opinion so let me try to fill you in some. I have a Voodoo Firebird 2.77 proc overclocked with 2 geforce 9800 cards w/sli and 4 gig of ram, running windows 7 64 bit OS. Below is my load order and current mod list. Here is my problem as best as i can describe it. I had everything installed and running ok at one point. The game seems to start out "ok" then after I transverse a few zones/cells it starts to lag a bit (not your normal lag but like music and sounds skipping like a record player lag) then crashed when i zone into the saloon in the starter town. I did get inside the saloon at one point and even started a new game and inside both interior rooms there was a wierd blurring effect like a fail 3D movie and I could tell it was all my PC could do to handle it. Seemed like it only happened indoors but i still had BAD lag outside to (bad like on minimal settings and lagging which should not even be possible on my game rig). Variables im suspicious of. 1) Monster Mod was the last mod i installed so of course its at the top of my suspect list BUT...2) I installed the Poco Bueno texture pack which replaces a lot of stock textures and I installed AWOP which changes some of the homes near the starter town and it also draws upon stock textures to create other small buildings throughout the wasteland. HOWEVER at one point (before i installed Monster Mod) these two mods seemed to work ok with each other. Theories... 1) Could be an archive invalidation issue...? I use archive invalidation on mod manager but will it invalidate if i start the game with the "Large Address Aware" launcher? Should i just find another one just in case, I have heard Mod Manager doesn't always invalidate right away. Busting this myth... Once textures are invalidated do they STAY that way permanently? If so then this shouldn't be the case since everything was running fine before installing Monster Mod. 2) I installed AWOP "after" Poco Bueno texture pack, this seemed like the right thing to do at the time. Perhaps it was drawing on textures that were no longer there or something? Is there a particular order that texture packs should be installed in? 3) This happened post priori, after the fact but... I started using a large address enabler for fallout which looked a lot like NVSE with the dii file. Does it function like NVSE (replace NVSE that is)? I didn't remove NVSE from my directory so the 4 gig enabler was there in the directory with the NVSE files all together (wasn't sure this was good or bad or even relavent but it made me raise an eyebrow). AND again do i need to get a different archive invalidater if im NOT using mod manager to start my game or will the 4 gig enabler launcher do it? Im about to start the process of modding the game again and have my data folder backed up this time. I really like the texture packs and I don't believe its to much for my system to run the poco bueno pack. Im also fond of the monster mod since it lets the game respawn as well as AWOP because there all fantastic mods. Id like to juggle them all with Project Nevada ideally. Again Monster Mod was last in my installs so perhaps its a script issue. So my last question would be... Does anyone see any mods below that have to be installed in a PARTICULAR order to avoid script issues? And yes im currently asking about this in all the individual mod comments sections also, thank you all for the wonderful help ive been recieving since coming back to nexus this last week. Frankenfran
Im looking for a Archive Invalidation Mod atm... looks like theres two or three on the nexus site. Im seeing mixed reviews about them. Anyone got a good one that works well? And does the Stutter Remover work with version 1.40? It looks like its good up through 1.3 on the nexus page for the mod and thats all it says. Edited August 24, 2011 by Frankenfran
Sludgedog
Well, I'm not speaking from a perspective of 'expertise'. But I run AWOP, MOMOD, Electro-City, and about seventeen odds and ends (including a texture pack) and I'm not only having no problems but I don't even have a video card. Just the default on-board chip, whatever it happens to be. Haven't tried Poco Bueno, but I'll see if I can get the texture mod's name for you. It actualy makes things look better AND makes it run smoother. Back in a jiffy. Ok, the texture pack is called 'Detailed Normals'I'm also running a mod called 'Better Game Performance'Both of these helped me greatly. Sorry, but technical info is limited to Chemistry and Singularities; not applicable here. Edited August 24, 2011 by Sludgedog
