Scorpidius Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Hi guys!I think to try Windows 7 x64 and I am wondering will Oblivion be able to run on it? How stable will it be and will all those mods, OBSE and so on work properly?
micalov Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Windows 7 64bit is fine with Oblivion, one tip though do not intsall in program files/programs files(x86) to save yourself a load of hassle with UAC later.
Scorpidius Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Program Files is not a problem, I keep system disc clean, all other software I install in other partitions. What about memory ? I have 2 GB now, do I need to take more to run it smoothly in x64 ?
RampagingMurloc Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 You should be fine if you meet the system requirements, but you may need more RAM and a good graphics card/processor if you want no lag. If you're running a lot of mods, then you will need to upgrade your RAM (maybe processor too unless it's a modern one) otherwise bad things will happen. Bad, bad things.
SomeWelshGuy Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Program files will be a hassle. Install it somewhere else (C:\Games\Oblivion for example). And Windows 7 itself has no issues. Your spec, and the engine + mods have issues on every OS however.
spiritshadowx Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 If you're not an avid browser of the internet and don't download from sources you don't know, you could just disable UAC and install in the usual directory. I download things all the time with UAC disabled and Microsoft Security Essentials installed, with CommonSense 2011 installed into my head.
InAComaDial999 Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Ditto spiritshadowx. First thing I did when I got this PC was disable UAC. I use avg along with adblock for my browser, and have never had any issues with spyware or viruses. Oblivion runs just fine from the program files directory with UAC disabled, and I don't feel like restricting my installation options or getting spammed constantly with popups asking permission for a program to do something.
