Dark Brotherhood

I remember getting to the end of the Dark Brotherhood quests and thinking this idea (not something I could accomplish, but if someone is feeling adventuresome...):

Dark Brotherhood quests are quite clever, your an assassin, which is fun, but at the end of it, when you are in charge all you get to do is visit the statue an pick up money.

 

The idea:

Once you have completed the Dark Brotherhood quests, you can visit the statue anytime and get a new mission, preferably selecting from a list of available assassinations, anything you don't pick can be assumed to be completed by other Dark Brotherhood agents.

 

How:

There would need to be a randomizer, selecting random missions from a group of assassination missions.

As soon as you select a mission, the actors, items, etc for that mission are added into the world.

When you select the next mission, the previous missions actors and items etc are removed.

Should only ever be allowed 1 mission at a time.

 

Missions:

As many as possible, perhaps some way of other modder's being able to easily add new missions into the system. You would want them to be able to select 1 mission from 5 different missions each time they visit the statue, the 5 missions at the statue would be random and each mission would need to be made in such a way that it could be done multiple times (ie, no flag saying this mission is done) otherwise eventually we would run out of missions.

Some mission ideas:

A. Assassinate a High level imperial soldier (perhaps has a couple of guards, hangs out in mess halls, castles, etc) - goal would be to kill soldier and any witnesses to the killing. Hard Difficulty.

B. Assassinate a Mayor (has a couple of bodyguards as well as staff, perhaps a wife/husband etc) - goal would be to kill mayor and any witnesses to the killing. Hard Difficulty.

C. Spy on a mage's meeting - get within a certain distance of a meeting of mage's without being caught. Medium Difficulty.

D. Assassinate a Necromancer. Easy Difficulty. Killing of someone who is outlawed should alway be an easier target as locals will not be bothered by the killing, no need to hide body etc.

E. Assassinate a shopkeeper, Medium Difficulty, no bodyguards, perhaps a spouse.

F. Kill a witness, one of the brotherhood messed up, clean up his mess. Very Hard difficulty, guards are on edge and likely would need to be killed as well.

G. Frighten a witness, get within xyz distance of a witness to scare them into submission. Hard Difficultym guards in edge and likely would need to be killed.

 

Each of the above missions could be made in 10 different ways (different cities, different guard numbers, different AI packages etc) and there must be hundreds of other mission types people could think of.

 

Example:

1. You go to the statue and are given the following selection,

A. Assassinate a High level imperial soldier.

B. Assassinate a Mayor.

C. Spy on a mage's meeting.

D. Assassinate a Necromancer.

E. Assassinate a shopkeeper.

2. Lets say they choose A.

'Our client wishes a particularly troublesome imperial soldier removed.

Pay is xxx Gold.

Special Rules, client would prefer that the mark is removed without trace.'.

3. They accept the mission.

In the background, the mission's items are created:

The target is created along with his AI package.

Perhaps a room in the in in...Bravil is assigned to him (sleeping location).

A couple of guard actors are created as well (he being a ranking imperial soldier he is likely to have a guard or 2).

4. In order for the player to succeed, they need to either:

A. Kill the target and dispose of the body without any witnesses.

B. Kill the target and any witnesses and dispose of the bodies.

5. Player returns to statue, as soon as they select the next mission, the actors etc from the last mission would be removed from the world.

 

 

anyways, debate the idea and if someone with a fair amount of experience in modding want to do this...

Wow, that would be a really great mod, would seem to take a quite a bit of time to make, but it would make being the Listener a lot more enjoyable other than ("you! follow me" and "here's your 200 gold for the week"). I would give it a try if I was better at modding, and especially better at scripting. :unsure:

Dark Brotherhood doesn't do that kind jobs. "Sithis requires blood, and blood must be paid", As Vicente Valtieri says.

 

Otherwise i too like idea.
