Fishbowl Radio: The Story

 

Just like you, Bill “Piranha” Miller was once a courier for the Mojave Express. He too got himself shot on the job, but instead of wandering the wastes in search of the men who tried to kill him, Piranha sought refuge in an abandoned radio station where he established a secure homestead and began a career as a scrap prospector. Over time, he began to accumulate a lot of spare parts, wires, dishes, power sources and so on, and one day he was struck by the notion of using the bulk of his salvaged goods to get the radio station up and running again.

 

Years later, after much trial, error, and countless failed attempts, Piranha is the host of all the programs (there are four distinct programming segments) that can be heard on what he calls "Fishbowl Radio". The station is now operational and serves as both an outlet for his moral outrage at the state of the world and a beloved source of legitimate news for his listeners. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy to sit back and take in his musical selections and light banter without hatching their own plans for his airwaves!

 

Piranha now finds himself surrounded by members of a notorious gang known simply as "We're Fools" who aim to break into his station and bust up his life’s work. What’s worse, Glasseater, the leader of the Fools, is determined to seize control of Piranha’s broadcasting equipment and use it to announce a Fools recruitment drive! If he succeeds, every independent raider and lawless savage in the land will soon be under his command, which is a grim prospect if ever there was one for those who refuse to live and die by the gun or the edge of a blade. Of course, Glasseater wants you to help him achieve his twisted goal. Piranha, on the other hand, is betting that you are a good person and would never do such a thing. He is willing to gradually let you into his world if you prove yourself worthy, but what you do with the trust you earn from him will be entirely up to you.

 

Fishbowl Radio: The Core Mod

 

Fishbowl Radio is a complete mod package for FNV scheduled to drop on October 15, 2011. It will feature a new radio station packed with loads of great music and original voice material, new characters and quests (as well as new quest locations and a horde of hostile foes to tear through once you arrive there), and fantastic rewards including apparel, weapons, consumables, and perks. The download will also contain a short machinima trailer that sets the stage for the events players will be participating in when they load up the mod and dive into the content, which is geared toward a mature audience.

This download is under development by several modders who are keen on showing off our programming and storytelling skills through projects like this one. This thread will be updated regularly with development details and links to new 1920x1080 stills from scripted sequences. We are definitely keen on hearing what people think of the project, and we are always interested in listening to suggestions.
