ThomasCovenant
*warning*This may be a rant/blog.Real life.I dislike the mod that causes the player to bleed to death. In the, ugh, starting dungeon, there is no way to get to a priest to get healed. So you die.Everything in Tamriel wants to kill you, why?The dialog cannot be made to resemble reality. As an example:Bob the barbarian(Nord) walks up to a pretty lady and touches her, not in any recognizable sexual way, but she's offended and calls theoverzealous town guards. The guards don't listen to Bob.1. Bob is an outlander.2. Bob is not very smart and prone to get his feelings hurt, which makes him attack people around him.The guards jail BobBob never got a word in.All Bob wanted was directions to the nearest watering hole.Reality: If you feel cheated you can tell someone and depending on the situation you can probably get help.In the game: you are so out of luck. if you feel cheated out of say the going price of say a nice silver axe well too badyou can't tell anyone as there are no dialog options to do so.In the game: they can call the guards but you can't unless it's some sort of quest objective.Reality: it takes many years to become a master in hand to hand combat, and you're not just a pugilist. In the game: you can go to the Arcane University but you can't participate in any of the lectures as a student or as the Master. What do the Necromancers, whom are mostly girls, hope to achieve? In the blurbs in the loading screens, one particular, says ...the mage guild is out to eradicate necromancy and all that practice it...but in the Skingrad guild there is a mage that bumblingly does practice necromancy and they do not kill him.How is it that an imperial pc would not know whom the emperor is?(ref. CharGen dungeon)The emperor says I know this place, the prison?WTF?Is he that uninformed about the imperial city?Shouldn't the skill armorer really be blacksmith? How does one, really, fix leather or fur armor with a hammer? Are you going to hammer away at glass armor? Now don't get the wrong idea, I like to play the game...now that I have the cursed weapons mod.I like to use mods to change how the environment looks.I got a mod that makes the water look like a swimming pool, but so what?, this is a fantasy kingdom, a mage can't go out and clean up the environment so that all of the game world doesn't suffer from global warming, and pollution?Reality: horses are a bad idea, are you going to pick up its poo?horse poo attracts flies and disease.A war horse is not a pack mule. Some mod makers have it right...a marauder/brigand/thief does not keep expensive loot, he sells it.The idea is to be quick and avoid confrontation with anyone that could kill them.So they would never be using anything other than leather/fur armor and iron/steel weapons. With so many NPCs in Cyrodill, the animals would be timid at most and only attack if attacked, hungry, or you impinged on their territory. What, if anything, is there in the caves and dungeons for the rats to eat.How did the goblins in the starting dungeon get in there?I mean in the game and not due to programming. The doors leading to that area are locked. How does a headless zombie know whom to attack and where to go?Once you master all of the guilds, then what?Does the pc die in 40 years game time? Why can't the pc invent things using things like left over piping from a certain quest?Reality: peace sucks.Suppose you use mods and walk around the game completely nude(cheating all the way) when, at a certain point in the game, you get a statue of the hero, will the statue be nude as well?I find that theway a pc completes the mage guild quests strange. The best way is to use no magic at all.[opinion]You complete the fighters guild quests using magic.Reality: paying(bribes) for information is stupid as the cost of info seems to rise unexpectedly.and the bribed do not really like you.Reality: starting a fire via fire or lightning in a pine forest is a really bad idea. Especially if the place your in has no firefightingequipment in it anywhere.Reality: pirates/privateers were hired by the crown to collect off the books "taxes".Reality: never eat alchemy ingredients unless you have a deathwish. How does the pc know what the alchemy plants are for?Shouldn't you have to learn that? Warrdean
I think in your LONG rant, the overall question is, why isn't the game real with things you can do, cast, and act, and how NPC's act? If it is, then that is a very simple answer .. IT'S A GAME! Play it, have fun and deal with it, if you don't like a mod, don't use it, or make your own. If the game isnt enjoyable, don't play it, go do something else.
ninja_lord666
If you want the game to have that level of realism, then my best advice to you is this: put down the game and actually go live in real life. A game is a game, and that's all it will ever be. Games aren't realistic. Even the games meant to be realistic (example: The Sims, Sim City, etc.) aren't fully realistic, so how do you expect a FANTASY game to have that level of realism? ninja_lord666
um...if y'all don't like what I write, don't answer my questions. Simple. That's not the idea of a forum; that's a 'Look at Me Post This Worthless Crap Now Congratulate Me for It' ...thing. A forum is discussion based. Now it is possible, but highly improbable to have a discussion with only one side. If you don't want people to post non-nice things about your post, then don't post. Unless you have a legitimate question about something, there is always someone who will be there to contradict you. Oh, and ditto Suzarn. :P
